i dont think glen robinson is that bad. I see a lot of people bashing him, but if you look at his stats. The guy averaged 20 pts and 6 boards a game starting in 1994. There are not too many small forwards doing that. but i think what the problem here in philly is the fact that they didnt have a defensive team to cover up his defensive weaknessess. If you look at big dog when he was in milwaulkee. He played with defensive minded forwards. Hard nosed guys who had robinson's back. examples are jason caffey, ervin johnson and scott williams. Now with philly, i love kenny thomas, but he is not a hard nosed defender. Put robinson on a team like detroit where he is playing along side the wallace boys and u will see what glen robinson can do. Because a team like detroit can hide his defensive weaknesses. Philly cant do that with the frontcourt they have.

Glenn Robinson used to be a great player, but now he's at a point of his career where the points he puts up aren't game changing. Bad defenders are covered up in good defensive systems when they still give effort on the defensive end. G-Rob is basically a turnstyle when it comes to defense, he doesn't even begin to try, so for every point he puts up, a lot of times the man he's supposed to defend is going point for point with him.

If he gave any effort on the defensive end, during that stretch when AI was out, and Big Dog was playing, we probably would've had a shot at the playoffs.

he 'WAS' a good player .. very decent during his prime. But i think he does not fit in the way philly plays. infact he creates some problems for the philly defense. you can't blame philly's defence for not covering his weakness. to be a good player you need to be a solid defender and a scorer. you can put up 30 pts a nite but if ur opponent is an avg NBA player n puts up 31 pts for you, to me you have let the team down. big dog is a good player, but i think most ppl dont like him cause his 2 offensive minded and to me, he sometimes seems like a lzy defender.

20 and 6 ended last year. Even when he did average 20 and 6, he wasn't that great, besides the first few years. He's never been a team player or a decent defender. You talk about him playing with defensive minded forwards, but his defense was equally as crappy back then. Put GRob next to the Wallaces, and what I still see is a defensive liability. Someone who just doesn't give the effort on defense. Face it, Big Ben might be there to pack Player XYZ, who Robinson was supposed to guard, but what you see is XYZ driving burning Robinson. For guys like AI who gamble a lot, the two Wallaces would help, but for someone who doesn't even give effort, you see the same thing.
