What you would do to fix the sixers.

This topic is to post anything you would do to turn the sixers into the 4th team in the East, like most thought they would be. Here's mine, in no particular order:

1. Trade Cloriss Williamson- Whenever he comes in the game, they struggle because he can't defend any position, and he's useless at the PF on offense. Trade him for someone who's contract expires this year- Dale Davis? Should have never traded for him in the first place, which was the the single worst move over the offseason by any team, including LA.

2. Start Kyle Korver- He puts in effort on defense, and spreads the floor, which is great for Iverson and Green.

3. Trade Glenn Robinson for ANYBODY who's contract expires this year- I still think they need to get something for Robinson, but they have to clear major cap space for next year, so I'm opposed to any contract longer than that.

4. Start Dalembert- I agree with the concept of making people earn their starts, but McKie and Jackson were so bad that it hurt the team.

5. Trade Aaron McKie- See Cloriss Williamson, if they can do it.

6. Run Thomas in some offensive plays just for him- they need to wake him up on offense, he seems to shy away from the ball whenever Iverson has it.

7. Play the whole game- the mentality of playing in spurts is a holdout from the finals year, where they did it to great effect. However, that team would play okay the whole game, and then play great. This team forgets to play at all for three quarters, except Iverson. That doesn't work against the better teams in the league unless you stay within eight.

I wanted to like the trade for Corliss so bad, but I just couldn't do it, from when it happened to now I knew he was a terrible fit on the team. The local media lauded Billy King for turning Derrick Coleman and Amal McCaskill into Corliss, but they look past the fact that DC had a contract that had a $4.5 million buy-out this season, and McCaskill was a free agent, we made a trade helping out the Pistons. I have no clue why King didn't try to at least squeeze a second rounder from him. It's a struggle to think of a team who'd be willing to take on the three years and $18 million left on his contract.

Can't disagree here, Korver's been playing well enough to gain a starting spot. With the slow starts (I haven't seen the last two games, I'm going to watch them when I get open time) it makes sense to put your best players on the floor, and it's hard to say Korver isn't one of the best five.

Unless something drastic happens overnight, I'm pretty sure Robinson will be bought out.

I looked at the stat line.. Marc Jackson had as many rebounds as Iverson? He's a big waste of space, this is going to be a season where he plays at least 70 games because people hate his performance.

I wish. Maybe Isiah Thomas is interested.. at least that was the rumor going around during the expansion draft.

More than that they should try during some sets when they're in the half court to run the offense through him, it's worth a try, and he was pretty successful doing that last season. Kenny Thomas is a lot better than he's been playing so far this season.

I really don't disagree with you anywhere on this, if I had to add anything it would be to activate Salmons and play him as the sixth man.

The more I look at the team, the more I believe we need someone who's capable of rebounding and/or scoring in the post. I hate myself for every season to be blind to the team's weaknesses when anyone on the outside looking in could notice them.

ok, here is my thoughts from the games i've seen:

1. Kenny Thomas dosent seem to be fitting in the offense, last year he was putting good numbers when AI was out. So there is something definetely wrong. Like everyone is being saying, run some plays for him during our half court offense.

2. I don't think Green should be starting, I am not saying that Mckie should be a starter. But Green is just not good enough of a defender and scorer. He will make a nice 6 man. But I guess right now, green is our best option.

3. If there was to be a trade. We need a good SG. I believe that our interior will be bulked up once Sammy comes back, I mean its not the best front court in the league, but its good enough to get us through the season. Eastern conference front court is weak in comparison with west. So we should be alrite there (of cause, wont get us any championship rings). However, Iam a strong believer that we need a consistent player who can help our AI on the offensive end without hogging the ball too much. Cause AI needs the ball 3/4 of our offense

4. Our run n gun offense aint working. It is not the way we play. I don't think it suits philly despite the fact that we got some atheletic players. How to fix our offense, Iam not really sure or else I would be coaching right now.

After our first few games of the season, here is my starting 5

PF: KT
SF: Iggy
C: Sammy
PG: AI
SG: Green

this would be my starting five

1: Iverson
2: Iggy
3: Korver
4: kenny thomas
5: sammy

this gives us more size in the backcourt n better defense with sammy....i wish we had a PF like a stromile swift or chris wilcox with size n athleticism kenny has been playin like a girl....cant we try n get keon clark after waiving robinson or maybe even rodman but i know billy kimg is such a ***** he wont do nuthin dramatic

I have said this before, but the best immediate move is to trade Robinson for Rahim. Both have ending contracts, and both contracts are similar in size to work it out. Robinson would play well along side Zach in Portland, and Rahim we all know can be a lowpost monster in the weak East Conf.

I have no idea why this trade hasn't been done. Letting Robinson rot on IL or buy him out does the Sixers absolutely NO GOOD.

Re: What you would do to fix the sixers.

1. I actually liked the C. Williamson trade. I'd do anything to get rid of DC. He was always on the IR and I didn't see him contributing to our cause this yr. At least Corliss is a decent low post scorer and has a higher FG% and also has better trade value than DC. I was wondering a yr ago of who we could dump DC onto and Detroit kept coming to mind b/c of his close ties with L. Brown and Detroit being his hometown. And I agree, we need to get Williamson off our payroll.

2. I agree with starting K.Korver, but if we do that, who's he going to supplant? Not Iggy?

3. I keep forgetting that it's not going to be easy to get someone to take on that huge contract Glen Robinson has - is it 12 to 14 million? The alluring thing for other teams is that he can still drop 20 a night and he's in the last yr of his contract. Billy King might have to decide to eat a portion of it in any trade.

4. I still don't understand why Dalembert's not starting. I guess Obie has his reasons but that puzzles me big time.

5. Yes. trade them.

6. Yes, I don't dislike him or his play. I just think we over paid him. But I agree w/ your comment. Run him some plays...

7. Before the season began I had so much promise for us believing we could earn a #4 spot, but now, it looks like we could struggle to get #8 unless some changes are made. I hope we get someone good for big dog.
peace, I'm out.
