Playoffs? Playoffs?!

The title of this thread is inspired by a Jim Mora press conference rant during his last days as coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Of course his team didn't make the playoffs that year, and his concerns were on target.

Now with two games played in the month of December, and with the way things are looking, the team might not achieve the lofty expectations of some fans? Common sense sees that if the Sixers continue on the way they're playing, and don't make any trades, they won't make the playoffs and it won't be close. I don't mean to be the bringer of negativity, but it's hard to be positive when you can't beat teams on the road, and you can't some of the better teams in the league.

Now looking at the rest of this month's schedule, one has to wonder how many wins the Sixers will have by the start of the New Year:

Dec. 6 - @ Atlanta
Dec. 8 - Minnesota
Dec. 10 - @ Chicago
Dec. 12 - Milwaukee
Dec. 14 - Denver
Dec. 17 - New York
Dec. 18 - @ Milwaukee
Dec. 20 - Utah
Dec. 22 - @ Indiana
Dec. 27 - @ Portland
Dec. 28 - @ Seattle
Dec. 31 - @ Denver

The way things are going, I'm seeing five wins, this month at best. This team is probably the most painful to watch in the league, because it has a group of players who are shoehorned into a style of play they aren't fit to play on either side of the ball.

6-10 isn't the end of the world, hell the Heat were 0-7 last season before turning it around and becoming a playoff team, difference is the level of talent between the two teams, I was foolish enough to compare them earlier this season.

I'd hope I'm overreacting, but I posted this after watching the same trend in the last four games, and every loss this season. One thing I know for sure is that this team needs to get a draft pick and make some changes if it wants a brighter future, because the cast of characters they have will only be so good no matter how long they stay together.

I think the answer to our problems lies in our coach, fire Obie, and get a coach who runs a team the way our team is suited to be run

5 wins? IMHO, the only ones they can't take on are Minnesota and Seattle, and possibly Denver and Portland.

Philadelphia's just too damn undersized compared to some of the other teams.

One on one, even one on two, when the guy they call the Answer is on a one-way trip to the basket, you better just foul him. People can hate all day about the number of shot attempts. But, damn, give him props for even getting them up. He's small enough to have every shot contested. That 39% shooting sounds terrible to the regular reader, but have you seen these NBA players lately?"

I'm looking at it as objectively as possible, and I'm seeing possible wins against: Atlanta, Chicago, Milwaukee (once), New York, Indiana.

It seems like the Sixers are the get well for many teams, so I'm definitely not going to take any wins for granted especially Monday's matchup against Atlanta.
