Statistics tell O'Brien who to play..
Quote:
Sixers coach Jim O'Brien readily admits that, when it comes to determining who gets the playing time, he and his staff "go over such volumes of statistical information, [they] might defy belief."
O'Brien said players are evaluated not only over an entire season, but also in the previous five games.
"I measure it every which way," he said. "I know what every lineup that I've played the entire season has done. I know what combinations of players have been the best."
Some of the categories measured by O'Brien include field-goal percentage defense, plus-minus, deflections on defense, challenged shots, and "adjusted assists" - credit for a good pass that leads to a shot, regardless of whether it's made.

You have got to be kidding me? Obie sounds like he's a good Fantasy League manager. In Fantasy, statistics is everything. Unfortunately, in the real world, intangibles count just as much as stats, but Obie won't see this.
Remember, Obie is the same guy who was quite happy letting Pierce and Walker jacked up 3s in boat load. It worked against crappy teams, but as soon as the other team found out Obie's trick, they clamp down on dee, and at which point, Obie was confused on adjusting his offense, and the Celts died a miserable death under Obie. There ya, a master statistician at work!
I'm telling you guys, Obie will not bring you guys to the promise land. And not only that, he'll let Dalembert rot on the bench. His handling of both Dalembert and Robinson are refelective of his "wise" thinking.

You sound like a bitter Celtics fan. You calling Jim Obie proves you are.
Jim O'Brien is going to get the blame for this team losing but it isn't his fault he has a team full of individual players vs a team full of guys who want to win, who trust each other and who will work their butts off even if sometimes they don't make the right decisions with the ball.
Anyone who has seen O'Brien coach knows his game plan.
Walker and Pierce worked because Walker didn't mind doing all the little things but getting none of the credit. As you can see Pierce isn't working out with his new team because he won't buy into the concept of team play.
