Game Thread: 76ers @ Chicago Bulls (Dec. 10th)
December 10, 2004 - 8:00PM (EST)
Philadelphia 76ers (6-12) VS Chicago Bulls (3-13)
@United Center, Chicago, IL
Aired on: and
Projected Starting Lineups:

Season Series: First meeting of season.
Storyline: CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia 76ers seek their first win on the road since the season opener when they face the Chicago Bulls Friday at the United Center.
The 76ers have lost eight straight away from the Wachovia Center since beating the Boston Celtics, 98-95, on November 3. It is the first time in nine seasons that Philadelphia has dropped eight in a row on the road.
The Sixers have lost six consecutive games overall after a 119-84 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. Rookie Andre Iguodala scored a season-high 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting, but Philadelphia shot just 38 percent (32-of-84).
It was the third time in five outings that the Sixers have made less than 40 percent of their shots.
If history is any indication, Philadelphia has a very good chance to end their skid at the United Center, where it has won 10 of the last 11, including both contests last season. The Sixers swept all four meetings with the Bulls in 2003-04.
Chicago is coming off its most impressive performance of the season, a 113-85 rout of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rookie Ben Gordon scored 21 points and Eddy Curry added 20 as the Bulls never trailed and snapped a three-game losing streak.
In his last nine games, Gordon is averaging 13.3 points and making 42 percent (14-of-33) of his 3-pointers.
The Sixers will be without reserve forward Corliss Williamson, who aggravated his left MCL against Minnesota and did not travel with the team.

I'm pissed I forgot to set my VCR to record this game, and since it was on UPN 57 and not Comcast Sportsnet there's no early morning repeat.
I was listening to the radio on my way home from work, sounds like Iguodala went off in the third quarter.
And can anyone tell me about how Sammy's being used? I hear he's really productive tonight, is he being played more like last season?

First time I could watch the kid play, he is so fast that is scary. Forced some shots in the end but he will learn with time.

Yeah, he was doing his thing like last season. I just watched the 2nd half but Sammy was playing great defense (6 blocks and 14 boards) and was really effective on the offense, 13 points (5-7).
AI, Sammy and Iggy all have huge athleticism. I know people usually says that AI is a very good defender, but he is just amazing in that area of his game, IMO he is underrated on the defensive end.

Actually, a lot of people say Iverson is a terrible defender.

Corliss was out with a knee injury, and O'Brien wanted Jackson's production off the bench. Also Sammy always seems to play well against the Bulls, so that probably figured into it as well.

I'd say it completely depends on how he performs the next three games. Today he should have a good game against Milwaukee, but he'll have his work cut out for him against Denver, and New York. If he falters in those games, I wouldn't be shocked to see him yanked back out of the starting lineup.
