Sixers waive Brown, send Green and Davis to IL..
Quote:
Philadelphia 76ers President and General Manager Billy King announced Feb. 24 that the Sixers have waived guard Kedrick Brown and placed forward Josh Davis (low back strain) and guard Willie Green (left heel pain) on the injured list.
Brown, a 6-foot-7, 222-pounder, has seen action in eight games this season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Brown was acquired by the 76ers on July 20, 2004, along with guard Kevin Ollie in a trade that sent guard Eric Snow to the Cleveland Cavaliers. A two-year player at Okaloosa-Walton Junior College, Brown was selected by the Boston Celtics in the first round (11th overall) of the 2001 NBA Draft. The Celtics dealt him to Cleveland on Dec. 15, 2003. Brown has career averages of 3.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 13.5 minutes per game over 143 games (36 starts).

So does this means Salmons will be apart of the rotation? Or are they just going with a bench rotation of McKie, Barnes, Rogers and Jackson? They need anothe big.

They were talking a couple weeks ago about Jamal Sampson, and I think that's what they might do with the releasing of Brown.. unless they're planning on letting Mashburn take up a roster spot. I mean, can't they throw him on Injured Reserve for the season and get a spot back?
It wasn't mentioned in that piece what they were planning on doing, but I believe they'll be bringing Salmons back up. It's hard to tell, though. I can't figure out though, if they were just going to stash Green on the IL why not try to move him in a trade?

Re: Sixers waive Brown, send Green and Davis to IL..
Good riddance. Kedrick Brown came into the league with some very above average athleticism and not much else. The last I'd heard of him was the beginning of the season, where he looked all of about 260 lbs.
It's always a shame to see lottery picks fade out of the league after just a handful of years. Total waste.
And wow, if the Celtics didn't screw up in the 2001 Draft and the trades thereafter.

Atleast we got rid of Snows contract.

Kevin Ollie's contract isn't so great either, it's just less money, but for a lot of years too.

Re: Sixers waive Brown, send Green and Davis to IL..
Exactly. Ollie's contract is a year shorter, and worth about half as much as Snow's. It's still not a good contract, but it's managable especially down the line for a servicable player like Ollie.

Mashburn is taking up an active roster spot right? I'm guessing that the Sixers will activate Green soon and place Mashburn on the IL.

Re: Sixers waive Brown, send Green and Davis to IL..
For some reason I took a while to check this out, but Kedrick Brown was cut just so Mashburn could be on the roster (should've been common sense) so if the Sixers want to add another person to the roster they have to cut someone else. The most likely candidates are Michael Bradley or Josh Davis, so don't expect anything to change.
