Bradley: Philadelphia 'is like a second home for me'
Quote:
Rick Pitino was the Kentucky coach. Associate coach Jim O'Brien was the recruiter. The lanky 6-10 forward from the Boston area being courted was Michael Bradley.
Bradley signed with Kentucky and played two seasons. But Pitino and O'Brien were gone before he ever wore a uniform.
"It was like we crossed paths, them going to Boston, where I'm from," Bradley said yesterday after arriving in Philadelphia, part of the six-man blockbuster deal that also brought Chris Webber and Matt Barnes to the 76ers and sent Kenny Thomas, Corliss Williamson and Brian Skinner to Sacramento.
"Coach O'Brien called and said he was finally getting a chance to coach me," said Bradley, joining his fifth NBA team in fewer than three seasons.
This time, O'Brien was in New York, coaching the Sixers against the Knicks. Bradley was preparing to take a physical examination. The hope is that he, Webber and Barnes will be in uniform tomorrow night against - who else? - the Kings in the Wachovia Center.
Bradley, though, has been in Philadelphia before. He left Kentucky after two seasons and played a season at Villanova before opting for early eligibility in the draft. He was a first-round pick of Toronto, but has never found a niche in the league.
"Hopefully, this is the end of this," Bradley said. "I'm still sort of in shock, because I just got traded to Sacramento [from Orlando]. But if I had a choice, Philadelphia would be my second choice. Boston would be No. 1, because it's home, but this is like a second home for me.
"I'm looking at this as a real opportunity. Hopefully, I can finally settle down."

Williams' biggest problem in pass coverage is that he gets little help from Keith Davis" - 2006 Pro Football Prospectus
