Mashburn hasn't played all year because of an injured right knee and likely will retire once his contract expires at the end of next season. His deal calls for him to make $9.3 million this season and $10 million next year. An insurance policy, however, means the Sixers' responsibility is only 20 percent.

"I spoke to Jamal this morning and he said, 'There's no way I can play. I'm not going to play. If you'd have done this deal 2 or 3 years ago, I'd have been ecstatic,' " Sixers general manager Billy King said. "Right now, he's focused on his business ventures."

Robinson also hasn't played this season. Officially, he has tendinitis in his left ankle, but he's also suffering from an acute case of petulance.

Just as a reference for some who think he might.

I thought as much. He's for all intents and purposes retired.
