How will Webber effect AI's run at MVP award?

Of course adding Webber to the 6ers makes them a better team, which should result in more wins if he is healthy. How will it effect AI and his run at the MVP award?

If Webber makes a huge impact, AI's stats fall. If the 6ers go on a run, will writers take into account more of what Webber brought, or how AI held down the fort for more than half the season?

Re: How will Webber effect AI's run at MVP award?

It will have a negative impact. Any ascension up the ranks by the 76ers will be put down to the acquisition of Chris Webber. 'Team performance' was the reason that Iverson wasn't the favourite for the MVP, but I guarantee if said team performance improves, it will be put to down to CWebb, not AI.

Might I add, this is unfortunate... because AI is my MVP at the moment.

i thing the number of assits of iverson will be more but more or the same can be too the points why?because now he isn´t the only player in sixers that can score and the defense have to watch webber too not only iverson.

Re: How will Webber effect AI's run at MVP award?

It kills his MVP chances. The only way he could've been mvp was if they had started winning lots of games. Now, IF they go on a run, it will be credited more to Webber.

At this point in Allen's career, MVP awards arent something he is thinking about everyday; hes thinking about gettin himself a championship, and making a run. The man already has an MVP award, Scoring title, ASG MVP, and now he is focused on bringing that championship parade down broad street.
I dont think AI in the least bit cares about individual awards. He never has, and he has said that time and time again. The man desires a championship for his team and city.

Re: How will Webber effect AI's run at MVP award?

I disagree with you guys. I think C-Webb will help him get the MVP. AI was working w/ a bunch of scrubs. The other MVP candidates like Nash, Shaq, etc...all had star pieces to work with - AI, like I said b4 had 3 scrubs who BK finally dealt for a star in Webber.

For the 1st time at the All-Star game, I heard people FINALLY giving MVP credit to Iverson. As long as he continues to play the way he has and he and C-Webb bring excitement and wins, he's got the MVP locked up.

One thing that has crossed my mind is the fact that Webber has not only never played with another superstar, but never played under someone so to speak. Everywhere he has been he has been the man. The only superstar(unless you count Jason Williams at one point).....the Leader. I personally don't hink its gonna be a problem. I know how how bad C -webb wants a championship, and this may be he and Iverson best shot in the next few years.

I think it can only help him if they go on a run, either way i dont care about an award, i just care about getting into the playoffs and trying to make a run there.

Re: How will Webber effect AI's run at MVP award?

i think if webber adapts to the offense quickly he can help make AI and the 76ers look really good. It all pretty much depends on how things gell and how the team operates things with webber in the line-up. But this is still allen iversons team and webber is a great team player, he will get Iverson the ball, trust me.

Re: How will Webber effect AI's run at MVP award?

I think they have no problem working with each other as showed in this one. I just hope that Iverson (and the rest of the 76ers) realize that just because you added a great passer in Webber doesn't mean you're all of a sudden capable of doing some Globetrotter-esque passes.. you won't be playing the Generals night in and night out.

Also, they'd work even better together if the team had any type of offense, the half court offense is like a pick-up game. I know Iverson likes having the ball, but he's shown in the past he's capable operating without it, I'd like to try some of what the Kings do where people move without the ball more and the ball is moved around. And maybe one day the players would stop leaving their feet to pass the ball.
