I'm excited about next year for Iggy..

By far I think Andre Iguodala is the player who has, and will, benefit the most from the addition to the 76ers lineup. What Webber is bringing now, even though spacing isn't great, is attention. Watch the Sixers prior to the trade, and Kenny Thomas was often defended by players who were willing to let him to take the shot right inside the three point line. With Webber, Iguodala's slashing is becoming more rewarding and he's in a position to either score or setup another of his teammates (if they can catch his passes).

What's really a good sign is especially after the trade, is the enhanced confidence Iguodala is playing with. More often in the halfcourt, he makes decisions, and often times they are smart ones, which is amazing considering how young he is. superdave mentioned this in the 76ers/Kings thread but it's true that Iggy's stroke is much better than anticipated, and not only that.. but he has a very good shot selection. His worst shooting percentage since the trade was 44% Vs the Nets.

I can't wait to see him next season, after getting a year of experience. He's improved during the season, and with his work ethic, I'm sure that he'll come back a ton better. Maybe, I'm stating the obvious, maybe I'm exaggerating but with all these flashes we're seeing from Iggy while he's still playing consistently, I think we have the face of the Sixers for the post-Iverson era.

Here's hoping he continues his improvement.

Re: I'm excited about next year for Iggy..

i agree with you .
iggy is the best future player of our team and maybe in the future if he keep improving can be one of the top league players on nba .
and the fact he is playing almost games in the starting lineaup if not all, its a important factor too for he do what he is doing now.

Re: I'm excited about next year for Iggy..

For now, all I want him to do develop a strong jumper. When you look at the sixers starting lineup, Kyle, CWebb, and Sammy(inside) all demand that the defender can't leave them, Andre hesitates too much. If they all demanding somebody couldn't leave them, either AI goes for 35 on 45%, or they double him and everybody else explodes. the year after next, I hope he gets a better handle and more offensive awareness, as AI(hopefully) turns into Steve Nash

Re: I'm excited about next year for Iggy..

Iguodala's jumper is pretty strong, I'd say if anything he's the third toughest matchup on our team for other teams to matchup against. With Sammy, if he could get some consistency on his hook shot then I'd mention him.

Earlier this year, I thought Iggy was hesistant, but now I notice he's just unselfish.. Aaron McKie, now that's playing hesistant on the offensive end. Only player I've seen who could play 20 minutes and jack up a couple shots for games at a time.

Re: I'm excited about next year for Iggy..

What I love most is his versatility, he can bring the ball up, make passes, create his own shot and rebound, defend and he's unselfish. Good role player, I'm sure if he will develop a killer instinct that will make him a great player though.

Maybe, but I see more of Scottie Pippen coming out of him, and I don't think you can build a team around that type of player. Now, If you build a team of players with that type of playing philosiphy, that can work(See: Pistons)

Re: I'm excited about next year for Iggy..

He needs to improve his short-range shooting. He misses a lot of chip shots. Other than that, I really think he is already good enough to be averaging more points than he is. I think he needs more shots.

Re: I'm excited about next year for Iggy..

I watched Iggy for the two years he played at UA, and he is one of if not my favorite wildcat after having done so.

The physical ability is there, this man was built to play basketball. he's long, athletic, strong, and agile.

Something that may interest you is that Iggy has only been playing basketball above or at the high school varsity level for 4 years, going on 5. He started playing basketball after being convinced to quit track his junior year and he has blossomed quite well. He has improved at an incredible rate, and his learning curve is quite steep. I think we are seeing glimpses of the player he will be.

I knew Iggy was going to be one of the steals of the draft, but I didnt think hed be at the level he is now. I imagined him to be a great role player in 2-3 years, but he has already become a good contributor in his first season. This is a VERY good sign.

If the Sixers keep losing to teams like the Warriors, they better hope he turns into something.

I didn't say you could build a team around him, I said that he would be a good role player.

I think Scottie Pippen is his prime, was definitely a player you could build a team around, because he was the total package capable of doing everything. Iguodala is the same type of player, if he gets more shot attempts next season we'll see his offensive game expand. I think the guy is capable of being someone you can build a team around.

Just so i understand you, you think Iggy, or scottie for that matter, could be an offensive superstar?
