Chris Webber Chat Transcript
Chris Webber was replying to fans in a live chat on April 28 and here are some of his responses. These are what I feel are some of the more itneresting responses.
Quote:
AJ (Ventnor): Chris, suffering your knee injury do you feel your knee at 100% or are you still working on getting it stronger?
Chris Webber: No, it's nowhwere near a 100-percent. But last summer I had to prepare to make it through a season, this summer I will be preparing to dominate through a season.
|
Quote:
Kaaran Singh Hanover Park: Hows the city of Brotherly Love? Are you welcomed as much in Sacramento?
Chris Webber: Yes. I feel as welcome here as in Sacramento. The only reason I'm not as comfortable yet, is because I haven't had the free time to get around by myself. But, yes, I'm very comfortable.
|
Quote:
Greg (Buffalo): Chris, being a veteran in this league, and a very respected one at that, what do you feel is the most valuable asset for a team to have going into the playoffs?
Chris Webber: Either a coach that is a veteran coach, or a coach that has played, or a veteran-laden team. Playoffs are ALL about experience. More than anything else, it's about experience.
|
Quote:
Kristjan: How many years do you feel you have left to play pro basketball? Thank you
Chris Webber: Three, five and seven. And this summer will be the basis for it all.

I love this quote:
Chris Webber: No, it's nowhwere near a 100-percent. But last summer I had to prepare to make it through a season, this summer I will be preparing to dominate through a season.
Here's hoping he can deliver on that.

We only have one. Webber's a role player, but he's paid like a franchise player.

Webber was a franchise player in Sacramento, it's not like he's all of a sudden not one now. Watch when he comes back next year, we'll be saying we have two franchise players.

No we won't. C-Webb will never be a 20 and 10 guy again, unless the team is restructured around him, or he is traded. Or, if AI falls off really quickly, and turns into a set up PG, the latter of which may never happen.

Who said 20-10? I sure didn't, but we'll see Chris Webber's production have a pronounced improvement, not only because of his improvement in health, but because of his familiarity with Iverson. Before he suffered the shoulder injury, he got into a groove working with Iverson and his scoring was up around 20 points.
It's proven that there are enough touches to go around for Webber to still be a 20 point per scorer, he just has to become more effecient in his scoring.
Edit: To drive my point home, the Sixers average 98.3 possessions per game, second most in the league behind only the Phoenix Suns (98.6). If the Suns can have five players average 14.9 points per or higher there's no reason to believe that Webber and Iverson can't put up more than 20. He won't pull down 10 rebounds on average now, because of how he's used offensively.

I would tend to agree, he hasnt been a franchise player in a few years. I get the feeling you will soon have visions of DC....LOL...another once dominant Detroit product.
