Unhappy frustrated!

I just can't believe the season is over.

I will blame last nights lose on 1 main thing- Aaron Mckie played wayyyy to much. He is useless. tell me what the hell was he doing in for most of the 3rd and the ENTIRE 4th? Give me a break. he should hang it up.
On offense he was completely useless, just stood in the corner and did nothing.
hes a bum.

Why wasnt Korver played? Why not have a 3 point shooter in, he could have hit some shots(contributed more than Mckie).

I blame the loss on O'Brien. great job Jim. some great decisions!

Re: frustrated!

Korver was out because he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn in the playoffs, let alone a three point basket. Mckie did fine.

Yeah, O'Brien isn't exactly a genius, but not for what he did in Game 5. Game 5 was lost because they got out hustled in the 4th quarter. The Pistons had energy in reserve and the 76ers were out of gas from running at full steam for three quarters.

O'Brien's single biggest mistake was in Game 4. By not calling a time-out with 26 seconds left in the 4th quarter after Billups hit that 3-pointer to go up by 1, he lost a game that the 76ers should have won handily. He could have called time out, set up a play for a good shot, and won the game. Instead, he let the 76ers run down the court, scramble like mad for 10 seconds, and then the ball fell into Willie Green's hands. That's about the only grave mistake he made.

Other than that, it was a 2 player (AI and C-Webb) versus 5 player matchup and the 76ers could not find three other people to show up and score. The Pistons just had more talent. It's only because AI and C-Webb are so much better than any of their players that the 76ers kept it as close as it was.

Re: frustrated!

McKie was fine up to the end of the 3rd quarter, there was no reason for him to play the entire fourth period. Outside of that, it's all moot, since by that point it was obvious the most we were going to do was take this game back to Philly.

I can't be mad about little things like this, since the team really fought out there in this series (especially the last three games). Pistons just came up huge, and the Sixers didn't have the experience to overcome the Pistons.

Re: frustrated!

No, what lost the game here(and I hate to say it) was that AI refused to pass Korver the ball. I understand he was cold, but he was wide open at least 5 times. I know he was cold, but he would have worked his way out of it.

Wrong.
The Sixers proved one thing in 3 & 4, the Pistons can't beat them at home. The sixers lost game for themselves, the Pistons really didn't have much to do with it. If Obie had just called time, and ran a play, say when Billups got it within two, the game would've been over. But, he waited too long. Not to mention CWebb didn't help.

Detroit's as mentally tough as they come, if they lost game five at home, they would've wrapped the series up in Philly, I stand by that. Remember this is a team that's been down 3-1, and came back to win a series, down 3-2 and came back to win the next two beating the Nets. I still hold to the belief that if we held serve by winning both games on the home court (which I thought we were going to do), the Pistons would've closed out in six.

The Pistons under Larry Brown are 5-0 in close out games.

Re: frustrated!

Agreed. The Sixers were playing at their peak ability and the Pistons were not, until the 4th quarter. They are a better team and the Sixers just stayed in the games with pure willpower and hustle. The Sixers certainly should have won Game 4, but couldn't win two of the next three.

Yeah, Korver wasn't too hot during the series. Philly's version of Stojakovic's well-known playoff disappearances, maybe?

One on one, even one on two, when the guy they call the Answer is on a one-way trip to the basket, you better just foul him. People can hate all day about the number of shot attempts. But, damn, give him props for even getting them up. He's small enough to have every shot contested. That 39% shooting sounds terrible to the regular reader, but have you seen these NBA players lately?"

I wouldn't say so, Tayshaun Prince has made better players than Korver look bad as well. It was just as terrible matchup for Korver.

Dude, you gotta just get over it and give it up to the Pistons. I knew they were good but they clearly were better than us and they came out and proved it in game 4.

When you have so many of their players stepping up and hitting clutch shots (Sheed, Rip, Prince,) like they were doing - there's only so much you can do. And as much as I like Korver, he was a liability on defense, but he did the best he could defending Prince.

We were just overmatched.

As a former Kings fan, I know I was yelling "Peja!" at the TV a lot whenever he missed badly.
