Chance that Shooting Pheonemon Michael Finley will be released
http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/
Do you think we can get this guy if so, will he help us?
Can we put him at the two and Iggy at the three, and will it enable us to bench korver?
What are our chances of getting him?
How do you think he'll work under Maurice cheeks if we have him?
Last but not least, is he an ok guy knows the game doesn't trash talk say be a ruben patterson or a rasheed wallace?

Re: Chance that Shooting Pheonemon Michael Finley will be released
If he is really released then maybe we could get him for the mid level, but he may be worth more than that. He's a pretty good three point shooter and is athletic, but he's really declining. If he came here he would probably start at the two or three and we'll have Korver off the bench to complete a nice rotation. I don't think our chances of getting him are very good because he's getting old and I think he would want to be on a championship contending team ike the Spurs or Heat. Finley is an experienced player and he's been a good person his entire career, I doubt he causes and trouble with the coach or problems off the court whereever he would go.

Re: Chance that Shooting Pheonemon Michael Finley will be released
Look at the bright side, this offseason they are allowing teams to release a player without paying the luxury tax on that player's salary. The Sixers had to pay the tax last season, so I'm sure that Ed Snider is going to want one of these guys who are unproductive to be removed.
I'm expecting Kevin Ollie to receive the axe.

What about Aaron McKie? I think he's worse. His contract is a killer.

Aaron McKie is more useful to the team than Ollie is.

But, what about that hideous contract? Couldn't we waive him then re-sign him perhaps at the minimum? Then he would be making good money and a little extra, but not cutting into our salary cap space like he used to.

I think you aren't understanding what this is, it's not cut him and get him off the books, it's cut the player and not have to pay the luxury tax for the amount of his contract.
If the Sixers were to do what you suggest they'd be paying McKie his salary + the minimum. Which would still be overpaying him.

Oh, I see now. Then I guess it would be best getting rid of Ollie.

Nah, under the new CBA, once you cut him for luxury tax purposes you can't then resign him for a lower contract until his former contract is up...or something like that. The team that cuts the guy is prohibited from resigning him though.
I agree on Ollie, since MJax gives us our only banger inside. McKie also shouldn't be moved, since Mo believes in using him defensively.

Re: Chance that Shooting Pheonemon Michael Finley will be released
I believe that Finley's an extremely underrated player, but the fact of the matter is, he's old. We shouldn't invest in him, unless it's for a minimum cost.

One on one, even one on two, when the guy they call the Answer is on a one-way trip to the basket, you better just foul him. People can hate all day about the number of shot attempts. But, damn, give him props for even getting them up. He's small enough to have every shot contested. That 39% shooting sounds terrible to the regular reader, but have you seen these NBA players lately?"
