Iverson not highest paid on Comcast payroll..
Quote:
It's no surprise when corporate chieftains make lots more money than their employees. But what if one of the employees is Allen Iverson?
You might expect him to be the highest-paid employee at Philadelphia's Comcast Corp., which owns Comcast Spectacor, the parent of the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers.
You'd be wrong.
Iverson's $14.63 million salary last season did not come close to the total compensation of $32.9 million for Brian L. Roberts, Comcast's chairman and chief executive officer. The Answer also made less than Roberts' father, Comcast founder and director Ralph J. Roberts ($17.9 million).
And less than Stephen B. Burke ($29.8 million), the company's chief operating officer and president of its cable business.
The Robertses and Burke were all among the 10 highest-paid people in The Inquirer's annual survey of compensation packages for area executives. Three other Comcast executives made the list's top 50.
Iverson is not the only Comcast sports star who endures a more modest compensation package than the company's top executives.
Even if there had been a 2004-05 NHL season, Flyers stars Jeremy Roenick and Eric Desjardins would have made less than most of Comcast's top executives.
Of course, Iverson, who stands to make $16.45 million for the 2005-06 NBA season, had a bigger salary than any of the executives. Brian Roberts' 2004 paychecks amounted to just $2.1 million - or about $40,400 per week. But his total compensation included a $6.7 million bonus, $3.3 million in stock grants, and $20.8 million in profits from stock-purchase options he exercised during the year.

Re: Iverson not highest paid on Comcast payroll..
We do fine with 500 dollars mind you, I hate this stars cant pay with big money bull****, if you can live the LIFE with a mere 5 hundread dollars, then surely enough you can with 40 thousand dollars a week, or a million dollars. Bottom line is we just don't understand the value of the money, if say you got 10 thousand dollars Sixersfan a week, do not tell me you can't buy a simple mcdonalds, Hell you could buy the entire stock of food and still have time to spare!
Now We will admit Salary wise Allen Is the higher paid person, but that is to be expected, not for money or food Allen very well knows 1 million dollars a week goes a long way to other people, and even goes a legitmate way towards himself, So how are you going to sit here and say 2.1 million dollars is not worth anything? It's worth more then I have in my pocket, it's well damn worth more in my mom's pocket, but what the hell 500 dollars, we're living and living great, you don't have to be big in the millions to live a great life. If you have a million dollars, that's alot of bling bling.

Could you imagine Sprewell on that money? He'd have his family up at the local food shelter getting a meal.

Sixersfan was being sarcastic.
The first line he used came verbatim from the article I quoted. Also while some people can live off of $500 a week (I know I could) others can't because of the expenses, and keeping up their standard of living. Like I'm sure if Iverson had $500 a week, it'd feel to him like he was broke, to others it's a nice living.
Money can't buy a great life, but it can put a nice down payment on a facade.

I really think that Sprewell quote is the quote of the year. I still laugh about it.
Then again, maybe he has problems like Shawn Kemp and has 40 some odd kids and counting that he doesn't all know about yet. That'd be a large Happy Meal order at the drivethru.

Well, that breaks down to like $24,000 a year gross income. That would be hard to live on after taxes if you weren't by yourself. Like rent, utilities, gas, food, cable so you can watch Sixers games , perhaps a small car payment with car insurance, and internet service. Throw in a wife(more taxes), and kids..could get dicey.
But for a single guy on his own, yeah thatd be doable, no question. Just don't go around with Mrs. Sprewell.
