Thumbs up Aaron McKie appreciation thread..

We wanted his bloated contracts off the books, but it's still sad to see him be released as he was the only other Sixers player besides Allen Iverson who remained from the NBA Finals team.

Feel free to use this thread to celebrate your favorite Aaron McKie moments during his 76ers' career.

Re: Aaron McKie appreciation thread..

Before a game during that 2001 playoff run I remember Allen and him fake boxing before tip off. He played the guy with the mitts with Allen responding. Great message to send, that team was built for war. Loved that 2001 run, thanks Aaron, without you it wouldn't have been possible.

Re: Aaron McKie appreciation thread..

I have to highlight game seven of the Eastern Conference Semis. Without Aaron McKie the game wouldn't have even come down to that Vince Carter shot, the Raptors would've won it going away. Iverson was still suffering from the bruised tailbone, and couldn't hit a shot, so McKie became the primary offense for the Sixers.

It's amazing how it's overlooked, but even though he won the sixth man of the year, people often forget that Aaron McKie was the starting PG for the Sixers for the majority of their 41-14 run to start the season.

There are plenty of times in his career when this guy simply stepped up and played huge when this team needed it the most. Another good memory was that he was one of the main catalysts in getting Randy Ayers fired, that definitely was good for the team.

Re: Aaron McKie appreciation thread..

I just liked that guy who did that McKie...For Three! call, whenever he'd make a clutch shot(and he always did).

Re: Aaron McKie appreciation thread..

McKie was so aweseome during the '01 season, he was our second best offensive player and he was a great defender as well. It's too bad he was injured for most of the time after that and was never himself again.

My favorite McKie moment was when he was had the back to back triple doubles that season and won the Sixth Man of the Year award.

Re: Aaron McKie appreciation thread..

He will be missed, he was such a big factor in our playoff runs. Probably the best GM move by Larry Brown.
