The Optimism Thread
Since everyone here seems so down on the dumps, I created this thread to generate some excitement and anticipation for the next season. Even with all the strange signings, there are still positive things for us that we should be proud of.
C'mon fellow Sixers fans! Let's list all the positive things for our team here in this thread!
My positive things:
1.We still have Allen Iverson
2.We resigned the ones we wanted to resign (Dalembert, Korver, Green)
3.There's still considerable talent in Webber and Iguodala.

One on one, even one on two, when the guy they call the Answer is on a one-way trip to the basket, you better just foul him. People can hate all day about the number of shot attempts. But, damn, give him props for even getting them up. He's small enough to have every shot contested. That 39% shooting sounds terrible to the regular reader, but have you seen these NBA players lately?"

Re: The Optimism Thread
Optimism is fine, but I think in the long run it can hurt if you take it out of context. The best way is to approach things realistically, or otherwise you'll find yourself blindsided by the team's obvious flaws.

Everything is useless when taken out of context. Remember I wasn't the one who was blinded into thinking the Sixers had a chance Vs the Pistons in the playoffs. I didn't for a second think that Kyle Korver Vs Tayshaun Prince was a favorable matchup for the Sixers.
A realistic view on things is the best way to go about things.
Also no offense to the Effin One, but just having Iverson doesn't make a contender, this team hasn't contended for anything since 2000-01.

Re: The Optimism Thread
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that this team isn't afraid to spend money to get better. And that's a big positive.

That seemed to be the case the past few years, but this season it appears we are actually trying to conserve money. We have gotten rid of McKie and traded away Jackson to save some salary space. I think the management isn't willing to put out the money if we're not winning anything meaningful.

I know, and it's not lost on me that there are some major question marks surrounding the team. It's just that I feel that there are already too much threads that "approach things realistically". But there are always bright sides even amidst all these negative points, maybe we just need to realized them before we start to give up on our team's chances.
