Iguodala to play in another game at University of Arizona..
Quote:
TUCSON - Basketball will be the buzz at the University of Arizona today, even if it is the first full week of football practice.
More than 30 former UA men's basketball players - nearly half with NBA experience - will participate in the Lute Olson All-Star Classic Weekend.
There was a dinner Saturday to honor UA's 1988 Final Four team, the school's first. Today, there's a basketball game featuring current and former UA professionals.
"We're fired up about it," said Scott McKenzie, UA's associate director for marketing and development. "It's really picking up now."
UA officials expect to reach the attendance for the 2003 event (11,424) for today's 1 p.m. game at McKale Center.
With ex-players such as Steve Kerr, Sean Elliott, Gilbert Arenas, Damon Stoudamire and Andre Iguodala promising to make the game, it's not a surprise.
"A lot of us stay in touch but it's tough for us to get together," Kerr said. "It' a good time to reminisce."
At halftime, former guard Jason Gardner will become the fourth player in school history to have his jersey (No. 22) retired. The others are Mike Bibby, Kerr and Elliott.
