Do-over
Sometimes, in contract negotiations, things fall between the cracks. In the case of the Sixers and their deals with Green and Kyle Korver, a key detail in the new collective bargaining agreement eluded King and the agents.
The Sixers signed Korver on Aug. 2 to a 6-year contract thought to be worth $24 million (or up to $27 million with incentives), and had agreed to terms with Green on a 6-year deal thought to be worth $20 million.
League attorneys pointed out that, as 2-year restricted free agents, Korver and Green could not sign for more than 5 seasons.
"We had a glitch, and it's been fixed," King said.
He does not discuss the value of contracts, but confirmed he had re-signed Korver. The new deal is for 5 years and thought to be worth from $21 million to $22 million.
Korver is scheduled to participate in the Sixers' minicamp that starts today at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Green's reworked deal would have been for 5 years and likely been worth about $17 million.
The same day Korver signed, the Sixers also signed center Samuel Dalembert - a 4-year restricted free agent - to a 6-year contract originally thought to be worth $58 million. A source familiar with the situation said Dalembert's package, for the maximum number of years permissible in his case, actually is worth about $61 million.
