76ers:Cheeks begins task not on the 1st of Nov but the 2nd
The regular season has meant so much to everyone since the hiring of Maurice cheeks.
On August 28th, it meant getting rid of a stubborn coach in O’Brien and bringing in a coach That possibly has the magnitude to bring the 76ers an actual NBA CHAMPIONSHIP!
A few weeks later, it was the obvious move refered to save Billy King’s Job if not the fanbase of Philadelphia, as Billy King made a decision that could’ve turned out much better far too many times.
Now it can be acknowledged as redemption.
We have failed at doing the obvious so many times.
In 97 we failed to draft the Likes of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, among the other stars and instead had brought in Bust 7’6 ‘frame’ Shawn Bradley.
In 01 we had the roster that clearly topped all, we fought roared and climbed to the number 1 seed in the east, and god who knows how hard we fought, but failed to defeat the Lakers.
Now we have lived up to those failures.
Motombo made a name for himself in Houston as one of the more psychical reserve centers in the league.
Todd Mac was just plain garbage after a mere 49 games.
Theo Ratliff may be in a future miricle in Portland.
And Among other things Aaron Mckie and Kobe Bryant will be reunited to try and take down the 76ers.
So why not the date when the Lakers and 76ers square off?
Why not when the Portland TrailBlazers come to town, and squash any attempt they make a holy ritual of a team from there coaching staff’s poor statements?
Why not the first game of the season, Against the 1st overall pick, with a chance to possibly reveal his true level of talent?
Redemption, revenge And the chance to break heart.
This team fought, and damned well might I add reminded us of the spirit of the 01’ 76ers.
The best squad in nearly 20 or so years, and combated the Pistons’ nearly tied the series and damn well knows what would happen.
Would Detroit have been elimated?
Would we have faced the Pacers, and repeat the regular season series, and go to the ECF?
Could we have given Miami a good wack, and maybe win the thing?
And an impossible trip to San Antonio.
It could’ve happened.
But it didn’t the Pistons’ slayed us, and this is the perfect chance to slay them back,
If I had to point out what game was the most important for the entire regular season, I’d have to pick this game.
If I had to find which game will cost us or give us a playoff spot, in this ever so challenging eastern conference, it will be this one.
If I had to find a game which would set the tone for our team, ruin the spirit of another, and at the same time take a chip off our Shoulder.
I’d have to pick this One.
Philadelphia 76ERS (Away)
Versus
Detroit Pistons (Home)
11/2/05.
And Hopefully we’ll win.
If not the disaster of 2006, will come before us.
I can easily see the chip still being there.
I can see the Pistons making the playoffs.
I can see Flip Saunders getting already a 24.3 million dollar signing bonus even though it was one victory that dictated there team.
I can see a 76ers’ team that may never recover and remove any and all chance of making another Cinderella run.
I can still see the taste of disgust and revenge in our mouths.
This is a must win game.
Not only for the here and now, but for the future and the past of the city.
And Maurice cheeks and the 76ers will deliver it.
