Has Cheeks done, what no one has ever done before?
In the 93-91 Loss to the New Jersey nets one thing was figured out: John Salmons can play. It may be pre-season but in the game Against the Knicks he blew em up for 30, against Cleveland he got double-figures, Against a superior Nets team? He got 27. Is Salmons for real Kunlun, and Is Willie Green's loss Imminent now? Is he worthless to the team with Salmons bursting open the gate?

Re: Has Cheeks done, what no one has ever done before?
Salmon was always a good player in my books. But he has far exceeded my expectations in the pre season. Alot of people on this board say his too big to be a pg, no ball handling skills and can't play sg.
I see where they are coming from, but this boy never had the chance to shine.
Hopefully he carries the form to regular season .... if he gets the court time.

Salmons is not for real and Willie Green's loss depends on how well his knee heals up. Willie is worthless to any team right now due to his messed up knee.

I don't think people here ever questioned whether he had the ability to play the PG or SG spots, the main problem he's had in his career was consistency and focus. I think he's had plenty of chances to shine, but Maurice Cheeks is the first coach to make getting the most out of John Salmons one of his main objectives.
Now I'm not sold yet, but I would love to see him keep this up. As it would boost this team, at least in my mind. An even bigger thing this would do for the team, is if he keeps playing the way he is the team is going to have to give him minutes, and they'll have to take those minutes from Iverson. If Iverson's minutes dropped from 42 to 35, it'll do worlds of wonder for his health come the end of the season.

You basically implied that Allen Iverson needs rest, because of his aggressiveness to the hoop and 'injuries'. Right? Thought so Ai's a starter for his life.

Re: Has Cheeks done, what no one has ever done before?
Personally I never questioned that he had the Talent to do what hes doing right now but the question is can he do it in the Regular Season cuz so far he hasnt I think the crack on Salmons is he hasnt made an impact when we need him too I hope he can that would be huge for us but lets not make a big deal of anything til we see the regular season start

So where am I wrong? I never said he shouldn't start, I said he should play less. His knee is already hurt and the regular season hasn't even started yet. I don't think it's a good idea to let him run with 40+ minutes a night.

Salmons will logg alot of minutes because he can replace AI,Iggy, or Korver

Re: Has Cheeks done, what no one has ever done before?
He can replace them well, if he does indeed perform like has in the pre-season. If he does it'll be another player coaches have to analyze. All the better when we make teams seriously watch flim.
