76ers post game analysis.
Most 76ers fans on Basketballboards.net (Including myself) expected a rout of the New York Knicks. They expected that with the unexpected arrivals of Center and Power Forward Samuel Dalembert and Chris Webber they would push up the tempo and win the game with ease. They and including myself were heavily mistaken. Eddy Curry registered a double double, and Crawford added 12 2nd half points for a 80-71 exbhition loss to the New York Knicks. The Things I liked: 2nd Half intensity Kyle Korver hitting 2 big shots for the sixers (3-4) Maurice Cheek’s ability to adjust. The Things I hated about the game: 1st quarter play, sure the sixers were up 11-7 but after that, we clearly couldn’t shoot, couldn’t pass, and at one point lost all patience on the offensive end. Points in the paint 44-Knicks 19-Sixers Eddy Curry shouldn’t have been allowed to get as many touches Kudos to cheeks though for limiting his points in the 2nd half. In the 1st half the 76ers weren’t aggressive at all period, there traps often came late in the periods, and if I had known that was the case, I wouldn’t have dissed New York and instead watch Peter Forsberg and the Flyers. The rebounding and assists could’ve been better in themselves as well.
Suprises: The fact that the 76ers were out-rebounded, Out-hustled, when the Knicks clearly didn’t make any changes defensively was amazing. It’s almost as if the First quarter was the difference. Also amazing was the fact in a mere 2 non-broadcasted games Louis Williams improved his free throw shooting and stamina. Oh yes I can’t help but add Kyle Korver’s 1/10 from the Arc performance. Clearly He’s no longer the player he was a year ago. If Marc Zumoff’s statistics are correct then the 76ers heavily under-achieved in this game. Conclusion: That was just a bad first quarter and a bad overall game, and I can foresee the 76ers taking this loss as a lesson to shoot the ball better, and execute in half court sets.
