Thoughts on Larry Hughes
What do you guys think? I for one think he was much better off at the two. I really don't think PG is his thing. I feel that the could be a very good player if played more at the 2 and 3. He would be outstanding playing the 2 next to an uptempo pass first pg like Kidd or Tinsley. If you agree/disagree let me know. He needs to slash and score, not be a playmaker.

Im a Hughes fan........
I see him as a perfect 6th man who can either score, or run the point. I dont think he is good enoguh yet to run a team but maybe with a Kidd like pg he could start and have a strong impact. I think Larry can learn from MJ and maybe with the right atmosphere (like RIP) he can show his stuff.

I've liked Larry Hughes ever since he played 76ers a few years back. I always thought he had alot of potential especially when it comes to scoring, he reminds me alot of Allen Iverson since I don't feel like he is a real point guard but he can score if he is given alot of minutes. Michael Jordan has probably taught him a thing or two and I am happy that he has finally found a real home at the Washington Wizards.
He's got alot to offer and I think he's going to improve. He's really matured as a Wizard.

Larry Hughes...
Hughes can be a great player/scorer if he would be allowed to play the two-guard spot. He proved that when he was traded to the Warriors from the Sixers, put up 22.7ppg in 32gms. He has realled improved his shooting the last 2 seasons. This season he is shooting 46%. He is also a very good rebounding guard, 5rpg this season. I'd look for him to move to shooting guard next season with the Wizards more than likely taking a point guard with thier first round pick. Remember he is still just 24 years old.
Projected 2003-04 Stats...
Averages: 18.2ppg 6.2rpg 4.5apg 1.74spg
Totals: 1,310pts. 446rpg 324apg 125stls.
*Look for his stats to improve from year to year eventually becoming a top 5 scorer in the NBA.

Im a big larry hughes fan.. .and ive almost given up on him... hes such a good player... i really dont like him playing at pg.... the guy plays unbelievable defence, rebounds well.. and is finally shooting decently... if he can play against bigger guards, and have a backcourt teammate that can help pressure the ball... i think that would be a good combo of great defence and allowing larry to free up a little more in offence
hopefully larry regains some of the aggressiveness he showed in gs and starts to put numbers like he should next year...

he is a good player, but i see him as a scorer not a guy to run your offense for that the Wizards need to stick with Lue.

(-) etc. may be on to something. Hughes as a sixth man. Play him alot the nights he is playing well and right, sit him when he is out of control. Play only as 2 or short spells at 3. He needs a tough tough coach. He only gets rewarded with playing time when he plays the right way.Could have used 3 more years in college.

Hughes has been the most consistent Wizard this year. He is not a point guard...he is a combo guard like Ron Harper was for the Bulls. His jumpshot has improved dramatically, and he is an excellent rebounder.
My only gripe with Boogie is that he plays "inside the box." He plays not to make mistakes, thus limiting himself at times.
All in all, Im very pleased with his play this year. This was basically an experimental year for him, and he has passed with flying colors. With MJ out of the way, I can see him averaging 16 pts, 6 rebs, and 5 ast next season.

I too look forward to seeing what Hughes can do next year, spending most of his time at the 2 spot. I think he can be a decent first or second option on offense during what will basically be a rebuilding year. Hopefully Washington can use the draft to land a strong rookie prospect who can log substantial minutes at the point--Hinrich, Ridnour, Ford, Thomas, or whomever.
