Shavlik re-signed!
Quote:
Philadelphia 76ers President Billy King announced on July 12 that the team has re-signed restricted free agent forward Shavlik Randolph. Per team policy, terms of the contract are not disclosed.
“I knew I wanted to be in Philly. It’s an honor for me to be on this team. I’m Philly all the way, and what the city has done for me and the way they embrace me, I love being part of this organization, and I can’t say that enough. I hope I’m part of this organization for a long time.”
King said, “It’s great to have him [Randolph] back, because I thought he was somebody who improved. He gives us athletic ability at the four-spot, rebounding, high-energy, and it’s good to have him in this situation now. Now, he knows he’s a part of us and so now he’s got a lot of work to do to continue to get better.”
Randolph has joined the Sixers free agents and rookies for the Sixers 2006 Summer Mini-Camp, and will participate in the Rocky Mountain Revue Summer League from July 14-21 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

“I think that this team can not only make the playoffs, but make noise. I want to help this team be able to not just make the playoffs, but be able to be a contender. We’ve got all the tools and once we put them together it’s going to be a beautiful thing. We definitely have the opportunity to do some special things," Randolph said.

Slow down there Tonto. He's a great energy guy, hopefully they'll find more time for him this season. Shavlik isn't only a bench player, he's a movement!

Re: Shavlik re-signed!
He just sounds happy and optimistic because he just signed a guaranteed contract.

Re: Shavlik re-signed!
Someone lets me sign an NBA contract I am going to be really pumped too.I don't think you can expect him to say that the Sixers are going to suck next year and for the foreseeable future just after they hand him the check.

No one's saying he should say they suck, but maybe paint the picture a little less rosier.
I'm happy they got Shavlik Randolph for cheap, I was really proven wrong last year after I criticized him. I think he can be a very solid rotation guy, and I'm looking forward to seeing how he handles extended minutes. Not only that we can see him in action in the summer league.
I'm not expecting him to ever be a superstar, but maybe he could be our Jeff Foster?
