AI number two among league's point guards

Quote:
A.I. averaged 33.0 points, 7.4 assists, 1.94 steals and sank .814 of his free throws, again top notch numbers. But the Sixers failed to make the playoffs, and the concept of moving him away from the point guard spot seems inevitable again. It explains that just because a guy drives and dishes, it doesn't make him a point guard.

I agree with the number two ranking AS A POINT GUARD. He's definately the best combo guard in the league hands down

Re: AI number two among league's point guards

ok,imma break it down correct...iverson is a top 3 GUARD of all time....talentwise and commitmentwise

The modern rule changes have mde the nba a laughing stock, players who have`nt got the tenth of his ability are putting up 25 a game now and defense is a thing of the past, remember iverson was shaking mj in his prime, beating shaq and kobe(no-other TEAM managed it that year) in their primes etc etc, iverson has matched up with any superstar guard of recent memory and come out on top....only once he`s retired will people realise how good he REALLY was...5`11,165lb..come on !!

If defense is such a joke that it allows people with a tenth of AI's talent to get 25 ppg, shouldn't AI be getting 250 ppg?

Re: AI number two among league's point guards

no because 5+ years ago it was twice as hard to score 25 a game, one thing remains consistent, iverson has been one of the leagues highest scorers for almost a decade and that far outweighs anything that wade has achieved which was the original source of my initial reply

So what you're saying, then, is that AI has gotten so much worse, that he's scoring about the same amount of points now, than when it took twice the effort to do so.

And Dwyane Wade has achieved an NBA championship.

Not that I think Wade is better, I just disagree with your reasoning.

Re: AI number two among league's point guards

What I meant by Wade, is that Wade is better, in my opinion at least. He plays more within the team really. AI, simply by his style, indirectly makes himself the team. He's great as an individual player, unbelievable really, but his style of play can only get you so far, because it leads to others passing him back the ball, and just watching (though I'm sure if he played with Shaq, that wouldn't happen). Wade also has a small advantage in size, which probably makes things easier for him. He's also a better rebounder than Iverson, while still being an unbelievable scorer and passer in his own right. This isn't a discredit to Iverson either, just a big credit to Wade.

I thought the comparison was in terms of who's a better combo guard.
