Rodney Cardney has answers for the haters

Quote:
Some graduates hang up a mortarboard in their room.

Rodney Carney has a hater board.

On it are clippings from newspapers and magazines - story after story, he says, written by "haters" who have doubted his abilities, both when he played at the University of Memphis and since the 76ers took him in the first round of June's NBA draft.

He had them framed.

"It doesn't stop," Carney said yesterday. "It continues to grow. It's more there now than ever... . They say I can't dribble. I constantly try to work on going to the hole. They say I'm not consistent. In college, they said I wasn't consistent. I was consistent the whole year.

"One [writer] said I couldn't defend. I locked down J.J. Redick to zero points in the second half. Whatever's on there, I try to emphasize and I try to do. I try to be a complete player, so they can't write anything negative about me."

Re: Rodney Cardney has answers for the haters

Taking notes on why David Aldriche is not a good 76ers analyst is because, he's so lame duck. He doesn't bulid momentumn on his articles, he basically copies off of other people's styles. I turned Stephen.A.Smith's bull**** into one of my favorite writing-tones. Aldrich? Well needless to say, I don't like him.

Carney is a great player who shouldn't need articles to motivate him to be better.

I don't know about that, players who are much better than Carney use articles and comments to put a chip on their shoulder so they can prove everyone wrong. I don't think he needs the articles to motivate him, but he's using them anyway.

Carney should use those articles to gain some consistency because this is something he lacked during his days in Memphis. I really don't like it when players use material such as this to get motivated, because you should be motivated regardless. Everytime you step on the court regardless of who you are you'll have something to prove. If he truly wants to be motivated he should watch and learn from AI's passion.

Even Allen Iverson has used criticism to motivate himself. I'm of the belief that you use everything you have at your disposal to motivate yourself if you need to.

Dwyane Wade's another player who comes motivated to every game, but when the Mavericks said he couldn't hit jumpers he came in motivated to prove them wrong and did. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Too bad he can't prove it in International play.

As for Carney if they play fast and uptempo he will thrive. If Iverson dominates the ball, he and Iggy will suffer.

Re: Rodney Cardney has answers for the haters

AI doesn't want to dominate the ball, there's just no choice because Chris Webber is a blackhole offensively for this team. A shame really that Billy King makes's all the wrong decisions.
