What a "Culture Change" It has been
Ah, last year, what can I possibly say about last year? I can say that it was a miserable one.
Or I can say that it was a under-achieving year in which we got maxaniumn offensive production from Allen Iverson and Chris Webber. Or I can be truthfull overall and say last year was one of the worst coaching debacles I ever seen.
From actually being interested in the 45th pick in the draft or seeing a center who averaged 3.35 BPG (at the time) also average at least 4 fouls and is averaging 4.5 FPG as we speak. Or how about the late-game drama as we seemed to be 0 and forever in last game situations. All Maurice Cheeks seemed to accomplish in his "fresh new start" is further prove the theory that he is an assistant coach and nothing after that. Seeing his sub patterns I most certainly wouldn't want him in the GM Role. Although he couldn't be that much worse then Billy King.
And now let's concentrate on the "culture" change we were supposed to make. I believe we spent about 3 million this season. On 3 players who aren't doing crap for this team. They are: Alan Henderson, Ivan Mcfarlin, Steven Smith. Giving Henderson credit, he seems to have a knack for offensive rebounding. But for the last several games, it has been DEFENSIVE rebounding in which we've had trouble in. So if he can just perform an opposite act (DEFENSIVE rebounds as compared to Offensive) He might have been worth his money.
This Season's "Culture Change" has definately been a complex one. Instead of looking like he has a "few gifts left" Dalembert is averaging 4.5 FPG, and less then THREE REBOUNDS these last several games. I don't know about Beez, but if there's anytime to chant "Dalembert Sucks" Now is definately it. And I definately would want it to happen. He is beyond help, he is simply ill-talented. Is it me, or the Chris Webber move has panned out the same way most if not ALL King fans expected? We now have a 20 million dollar man on the bench and the 76ers are 5-8. Albeit, Webber would never contribute anything USEFUL to this squad. But one suggests the 76ers would be alot worse then 5-8 if Webber played 40+ minutes every game. Mo Cheeks has got to go.
Last year, we thought Mo Cheeks had potential to be a good coach, but this is hideous. His TIMEOUT management is HORRIBLE. His SUB pattern is RIDILCIOUS to watch (forgive spelling). Case in point: Milwaukee Game, We were down by 3 I think after Milwaukee made 2 freebies. Did we call the timeout? No we did not, somehow thinking we were the 2005 Detroit Pistons, we brought the ball down the floor and did absouetely nothing. Only to be blessed by missed Milwaukee Free throws (or a shot don't remember clearly). And of course the Kyle Korver strip. I'm also getting tired of the Isolation Offense that Maurice Cheeks's Runs. It's either time to invent a playbook or admit you can't do your job.Lets's face it, I, a 14 year old, realize the 76ers offensive effencency has to be among the worst in the league. He should as well, but hence, he does not. Further proof he should be fired.
NOW for some of the positives (if there are any) in this culture change. If Dalembert or none of the 76ers big men are going to rebound the basketball. It's good that Andre Iguodala is, averaging at or around 8 RPG these last 3 games. Granted, I feel embarassed to SEE OR HEAR that Andre Iguodala is getting to the basketball, but Paul Pierce of the Celtics is playing PF, so it truly can't be all that bad. Willie Green is finally realizing how to shoot. Don't shoot fadeaway jumpers like your Michael Jordan. Penertrate to the basket, shoot the wide open shots. Set up your team-mates, Willie Green has averaged 2 or more assists these last 3 games. That's at least 1 more then his season average this year. It's not something to go crazy about, but it's a start. Likewise with Shavlik Randolph, with consistant minutes, he's doing everything possible. In the Chicago, Milwaukee, New York (pre-season) games, he's snagged 4 blocks. Not saying Shavlik Randolph is a shot-blocking force. Simply showing some MORE evidence that Randolph is clearly the GO-TO-GUY at PF, if not him (for offensive purposes) go to Steven Hunter. But Webber should play 10-20 MPG as a 6th man. NO MORE NO LESS.
Overall? This Culture Change needs to be quicker and it all starts at the top. By the END of April, Billy King WILL BE FIRED. How do you like my latest article?

Re: What a "Culture Change" It has been
About the article: Despite your evidence, I disagree with your thesis. I do not think Billy King will be gone by April, because this organization has a history of not doing anything drastic to get out of a bad situation. And if King leaves, the team is in a situation where no GM can make it better immediately.
Question: When does Webber's contract expire? This year or next?
