I was watching the game last night they jumped to a good sized lead on the Cavaliers going inside out (King Shavlik I was giving work) but then everything changed to one on one basketball, bad passes, lack of ball movement, and just utter stagnation.

A 26-16 lead turned into being down about 12 points, and they kept playing the same style so I started watching other games. This isn't just me complaining about Iverson either, because when he was pulled out Willie Green was simply just looking for his own shot as well. Not only that, there was absolutely no off ball movement, it'd be one thing if this was a fluke.. but this is the Sixers system.

They are a high scoring offense, but they always hit long streaks where they don't score. This isn't anything new because it's been this way since Larry Brown was here, but at least he had drawn up plays to stop scoring droughts, that's not the case anymore. Everything is built upon the premise that Iverson has a supernatural performance, and someone else plays well enough to throw them over the top. When Iverson has a bad game (like last night) it's a wrap.

I can't be alone in thinking this, and it's not a blame one player thing everyone deserves a share of the blame here. In the process though as a fan I don't see the point in missing other games that are played simultaneously.. I mean I'm a glutton for punishment, but I love myself too.

What sort of cretin can`t win a championship or at least go close more than once with a guy like Allen Iverson in your team for 10 years ?

Snap,he cant even make the playoffs/1st Rnd+ most of the time and still this guy is in charge

It was a good post, but what you say doesnt make alot of sense honestly. Tons of superstars dont get there, the Sixers perenially lately havent been a great team, nothing else to it. You also have to take into account the other teams in the division. The year the Sixers went to the Finals was an abberation. the East was terribly weak that year

Awww come on now BEEZ dont take away from that year and just say it was because the East was weak. We had a great team that year. We didnt have great players as in Superstars. But we had a great TEAM. We had the perfect set of roll players to go around Iverson, every knew exactly what their job was and they did it. Most importantly we had DEFENSE that year. If we had a team like that this year or any of the past few years we would of been right in the running for the Finals but we dont.

I dont understand why its so hard for people to be honest with themselves about the year we went to the finals. Plain and simple the East was at it weakest point those few years. If the Sixers were so dominant they wouldnt have went to 6 games plus every series excpet the finals when they lost in 5. I didnt say the team wasnt good, but to even remotely assume that the Sixers would be contending for anything resembling that team is ridiculous. The East has gotten leaps and bounds better and that team would be competitive but a Finals type team. Not at all, it wasnt a Finals type team when they went.

The East's only serious team was Detroit before Miami and Shaq. Just my opinion, but that was the opinion of most sports writers several years ago as well. The west had all of the contenders other than Detroit. And before Detroit sprung up, it had nobody which is how Philly got to the Finals. Granted, I was rooting for Philly and they played their hearts out. But they got destroyed. Now we have a very good balance between the two conferences.
