Sixers Send Jones And Williams To D-League
28th November, 2006 - 1:15 pm
Press Release -
The Philadelphia 76ers have assigned rookie guard Bobby Jones and second-year guard Louis Williams to their NBA Development League affiliate Fort Worth Flyers.
"This is a perfect time for Louis and Bobby to go to the NBA Development League," said 76ers Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations Tony DiLeo. "It is the start of the season where they can gain valuable playing time and also apply the things that they have learned with us. This experience will benefit their individual development and help the organization in the long run."
A 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward, Jones has played in four games this season with Philadelphia, logging a total of five minutes. Selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round (37th overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft, the 76ers acquired Jones on draft-night in exchange for a 2007 second round draft pick and cash considerations. Finally a smart move made. This is where they need to be so they can get playing time. There is no reason to keep them here on the bench

Just shows how much BS their reasoning for keeping Louis Williams in the NBA last season was though. I'm hoping that he can become as good as Monta Ellis is right now.

You gotta also take into account its Nellie ball out there in GS right now. Monta was better in High School anyway
Boy, the Dalembert bashing has gotten fierce lately. I don't completely understand it since he's always been uncoordinated and in the past he got a ton of love.
Anyways, Louis Willliams should have spent most of last year there too. He just got garbage minutes and he could have benefited from playing full time.

Dalembert is getting most of the bashing from Griddy and www.Starbury.com. I actualy still like Dalembert and hope he continues to improve. And he has improved. Hell like someone said earlier he use to couldnt even catch the damn ball. He is just taking slower than others in my opinion and I feel like they should give him a chance. Dudes young.
I have a few question for the bashers. What is it that your expecting of Sam? I have one I wish he would stop fouling so damn much.
What improvments did you expect him to have made this year that your so upset with?
(for starbury) How in the hell do you think you can justify putting Sammy in the D League?
Do you actually see anything he is improving on?

I think I know what their answers would be....
1) I am expecting him to be able to make up for Webbers horrible defense so that when Webber gets burned 90% of the game no one notices it bc Sammy takes care of it. That means running his *** out to block the three pointers when Webber cant move those knees to get out there and defend, but it also means when they blow by me he needs to drop down and protect the middle also.
2) Improvements? Webbers the only one smart enough to make improvements!
3) Because its Sammys fault Webber isnt a 20 and 10 stud anymore it has nothing to do with his knees, so get him out of his way.
4) No Im sorry I dont watch the games anymore I just got a live feed streaming of the sixers bench so I can watch Webber sit.

I'm sure that's part of it, but Monta was also playing well last season. I didn't see either in HS so all I knew of them was what I read and I figured they were similar players, from what I see Ellis is a lot more athletic.
