Will Mo Cheeks be back next season?
You all know he was high on Billy King's wish list when he became available. With everything that has happened, including possibly finishing with the worst record in the league, will BK bring him back for 1 more year?
If he does, it will be to save money cause this will be another coach they have to pay who isn't coaching.
..and if he doesn't come back, who do you want to see coach this team?

I certainly hope not. He's too weak-minded to coach. Players don't respect him.

I forgot Larry Brown's .02 will be included in the team's decision making, so it'll be interesting to see how they handle Cheek's situation.

Re: Will Mo Cheeks be back next season?
Larry's playing this like chess, I don't think he'll make the move so prematurely. If the team keeps playing the way it has been as of late, Cheeks will be the coach next season as well.
As for who I'd want to replace Cheeks, I would love to get Terry Porter. Looking at what he accomplished with what he had in Milwaukee was great, too bad he got screwed out of his job.

I wouldn't mind having Porter. But I dont think they are going to get rid of Mo any time soon. I think Larry and King will stick with him for about 2-3 more years. Get some draft picks. Give the team some time to grow and then they'll expect more from the team.....Blame it on Cheeks(and it wil be his fault because he can't coach period)Then they will can him.

I cringe at the thought of Billy King being here another 2-3 years. Thinking about it makes me sick to my stomach.

Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head Mo's going to be in for at least a few more years. Then whenever there's actual expectations (such as playoffs) and Mo fails to meet it, they'll pull the cord on him.
I won't lie he's been better during this stretch, but that's an upgrade from horrible to mildly tolerable. How well he's getting along with the younger players is proof positive that he would be better served as an assistant.

Re: Will Mo Cheeks be back next season?
He still isn't fairly corrdinated on either end and has done nothing but downgrade the team. You speak of Terry Porter, we had Jim O'Brien who performed similar tricks for us in 04-05. Quite frankly, he should but probably will not be fired. I would like to have Terry Porter. But among others I want John Calipari and Jay Wright coaching this team next year.

Re: Will Mo Cheeks be back next season?
I really really hope Mo will turn things around, in his defence, he hasnt had a stable situation during his tenure at all yet, now AI and Webber have gone, he can mould the team into his style, and i honestly think he'll come good.
In terms of who would replace him i think its Larry Brown, he's a coach and he will want to coach, he's been hired so that if Mo does go, the transition will be much easier. I heard somewhere D'Antoni will leave Suns at the end of the season to come to us...hahaa...well at least i can dream
Despite me thinking MO will stay, and i really hope he does and changes things round, because Cheeks is a legend and im not ready or willing to kick someone whose done so much as a player for us when he's down, i wouldnt be suprised if he was fired at the end of the season, but once again in my opinion he should be given one more year.

Re: Will Mo Cheeks be back next season?
Hey fchud84, welcome to the 6er forum. It's been kinda quiet around here since AI left.
It looks like Cheeks is coaching his way to at least one more yr esp if we continue to see progress in the 2nd half.

Re: Will Mo Cheeks be back next season?
Thanks, hopefully it will start buzzing a bit more, anyway good ridance to those AI fans that were more fans of his than of the Sixers, the true Sixer fans will filter through. Sixers fans need to stick together and be optimistic of the future when the team needs us most.
I hope they give him a chance like i said i dont think he's had a fair crack of the whip, he's had issues both years of management and had a selfish Chris Webber, im sorry but i hate that guy, he was there for the money and all he cared about was his championship ring, whether he deserved one or not for his career is irrelevant, its a team game and he came into our team with only one thing on his mind self fulfilment. Saying that you cant really blame him because he's on his last legs, its more of King's fault for not realising Philly dont need a selfish player, they need a mature defence first player who plays for the team. Nevertheless, his attitude sucks and i dislike him. His Pistons press conference when he signed made me insane, how he was implying Philly had a hopeless team.
Anyway now that i've had my rant I just hope Cheeks gets another chance.

You missed out on all the Chris Webber talk. He had some haters here, me included. He seems to be fitting in okay with Detroit.
