Iguadala Frustrated with Losing
Quote:
As the 76ers continue to go through a frustrating stretch, the strain of losing appears to be showing on the team's leader.
Andre Iguodala has not looked happy on the court, and has not had much reason to be lately. The Sixers lost their fifth straight game last night, 109-96, to the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre.
After Tuesday's 87-83 loss to Milwaukee, Iguodala, who had been a standup guy in victory or defeat, slipped away before reporters could talk to him.
Last night, a reflective Iguodala showed his frustration while talking about his situation and that of the team, which slipped to 14-22.
"You try to keep your composure and try to stay levelheaded, but we are human," said Iguodala, who scored 16 points, shooting 5 for 13 from the field. "If anybody is happy where we're at, they don't need to be part of this team."
Iguodala, who turns 24 on Jan. 28, has not appeared to be very happy this season, even in the better times.
Earlier this season, he turned down a reported $57 million contract extension, but the source of his frustration appears to be the losing, and now he seems to be beaten down by it.
"Because Andre [has been] one of the most talented players on this team and [has] stepped up and taken the leadership role, he feels accountable, and that is a very good leader," said Willie Green, who scored a team high of 18 points, shooting 7 for 19 from the field. "You can see it in his body language. He is frustrated being in this slump as a team, but all of us are."
Recently, Iguodala has been seen sniping at teammates. He also is one of the more animated complainers when talking to officials.
"I am just upset we are not playing up to our ability late in games," Iguodala said. "There are times where we are down in the game mentally, and it's just tough. It's tough losing."
Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said he hadn't sensed that Iguodala was pressing.
"He can be a little tired, and as you travel and play more road games, people get more tired," Cheeks said. "We put a lot of minutes on him, and maybe he is tired."

I get the feeling that he really wants out of philly, but doesn't want to say it.

T-Mac sucks.
Iguodala is proving with his play why he doesn't warrant the contract he was asking for. Sure, he's on a bad team but he's been coming up small at times. You never truly know what you're going to get from him on a night to night basis. With him admitting he can't shoulder the scoring load.
I understand him being frustrated, but I don't think this team is really that far off from competing for a playoff spot.

Re: Iguadala Frustrated with Losing
Well, he is walking away this offseason anyway. This is a ugly situation. I see a sign and trade coming anytime from now to the next season's opening of training camp.
At least Iverson waited for a long time, this kid doesn't have the patient in his 4th year and best season statistic wise already?

Re: Iguadala Frustrated with Losing
Could Philly's problem be with CHEEKS????
He caused the same player reaction with Portland, and under a new coach ---- just look at them. (Although, they did revamp --- they got rid of Cheeks first.)
I don't get to watch your games, but you need to keep an eye on Cheeks' attitude and the players' reaction to him.

it's not like cheeks left, and portland immediatly got better. I don't like his playing veterans too much, but I think that, win-wise, he's done about as well as anybody could.

Re: Iguadala Frustrated with Losing
Iquadala needs to stfu. Iverson was a far more talented player and sucked it up playing with the likes of Van Horn, Eric Snow, Tyrone Hill, Matt Geiger, Derrick Coleman, etc.
He needs to stop his complaining because he hasn't earned the right to yet.
He should understand that this is a YOUNG team with a terrible cap situation. Its going to take another couple years before they really have some pieces in place.
I hate it when guys make MILLIONS to play a game and act like damn kids.

Re: Iguadala Frustrated with Losing
Iggy isnt going anywhere YET, I expect him to turn it around. At least he showing that he cares, everyone else is just going through the motions with no feelings it seems attached to the losing.
