Rockets game b/w Dalembert

This was a nice solid win by the Sixers. I felt good about this game all day, so good that I was going to put money on it. Of course I forgot, but the team pulled it out.

There was no point in this game that I felt like the Sixers were out of it. Despite falling behind 16, and being on the edge of 8 straight Ls, they won because Houston isn't good enough to put anyone away.

A good part of the comeback was driven by the young guys. Louis Williams and Thaddeus Young in particular played a huge role in the turnaround.

Now while it's easy to stop there, a big reason the team won the game was because of Dalembert. There is no bigger critic of the guy than me, but it's amazing to see him out there battling the much larger Yao Ming and only picking up 5 fouls. Not only was he a factor there, but he still pulled his weight blocking shots. Great game. Also quiet as kept but he's having his best season as a pro.

There were things in this game that inspired confidence for the future. Also things that show that this team should contend for a playoff spot next season.

Re: Rockets game b/w Dalembert

Also Louis Williams and Thaddeus Young each had 8 points in the 4th.

Thad's just playing off of natural talent right now, I think once he learns the game better he's going to be great. Doubt he'll ever be a high assist guy, but he and Iguodala look like they could compliment each other pretty well.

Re: Rockets game b/w Dalembert

I'd love to see more of Young in the coming weeks, and theres really no reason we shouldnt. The sixers are obviously not going anywhere this season, so its a perfect spot to be in for evaluating your young talent and weeding out the garbage. (bye-bye Carney)

I also agree that Lou looks like he could be a great scorer in this league with more experience. He can abviously get to the rack without problems, and can easily find a shot for himself. I'd like to see him mature a little and look to pass the ball a tick more than he has been doing though. He has a tendency at times to dribble more than half the shot clock away before his first pass. I beleive he will get better with time and coaching though.

Yeah, I'd like Lou to come along more as a passer. Even though he's thinking score first there were a few plays where he created for others with his penetration.

Oh and welcome to the boards captainobvious. I thought you were a poster who was already here until I saw your post count. You join BEEZ and myself as people who definitely aren't very high on Rodney Carney. lol

So you're saying there are people that actually are
high on Carney ?

lol

Check that Sixers' GM thread mysterio was talking about making moves and starting Carney. Of course he's not local so he doesn't see how bad Carney really is. What a bad pick, I hated that one the moment they made it.

I was also dumbfounded by it. That was, I believe, the lowest priority on the sixers list of needs at the time, and he wasn't even close to the best available...?

I've only seen the guy play a couple times. A bit unimpressive, but not actively terrible, from what I've seen.

Re: Rockets game b/w Dalembert

The problem is that he is not a good shooter, not a good defender, and he's undersized. They drafted him when they clearly didnt need an "athletic" small forward, as they had Iguodala. He was never an efficient scorer in college, he just got by on his athleticism, which doesnt mean diddly in the pro's.
He hasn't shown much in the way of "game" since drafted. I'm more bitter at the bad draft decision than anything, but Carney isnt a good fit for this team. It's nothing personal as he seems like a nice kid.
