2/1/08 Sixers vs Magic RECAP
Final Score: Orlando 108 Sixers 106
The Sixers came into this game playing some good ball.
The first half was a back and forth affair with both teams scoring at a good pace. Orlando relied on its 3point shooting and quick driving ability, while the Sixers got most of their work done in the paint.
Andre Iguodala had a very quiet first half, mainly due to a pair of fouls picked up early, followed by a third foul just minutes after returning to action. Because of the foul trouble, Rodney Carney saw more action tonight.
Sammy Dalembert's shooting was a highlight in this game. Howard did not pursue Sammy out of the paint throughout most of this matchup, and he was able to take advantage of the oppurtunities by burying his improving midrange jumper. Andre Miller had a great game as well, driving to the bucket, posting up, and dishing the ball.
Reggie Evans also continued to impress, by giving the Sixers a good spark off of the bench. His play has been terrific lately.
One of the biggest dissapointments in this matchup however, was the lack of defense in the lane, as the Magic rotated Howard outside of the paint frequently, and had easy access to the basket with one on one drives to the hoop. Sixers perimiter defenders were hanging Dalembert out to dry by not keeping their man in front of them on defense. In fact, Turkologlu seemed to feast on easy uncontested layups all night.
