Hold up, is McKie still on the coaching staff?
He was a thrown-in as a sign & trade to make contracts work in the Lakers/Grizz deal. Does he have to report the Memphis, or will they let him stay here as a coach?
I mean at this point in his playing career he's a coach anyway.

lakers only signed him for cap purposes with the trade. He's not expected to play for them.

I know the Grizz have no intention of playing him, but it's weird. This is a pretty big loophole, I bet it's closed the next time they get the chance.

They said he's gonna mentor our younger players much like Damon did when he was here.

Oh, so he isn't on the coaching staff. That sucks.

Yup. He's the world's highest-paid babysitter.

Re: Hold up, is McKie still on the coaching staff?
Here's the deal:
McKie was a volunteer coach, but the Lakers still owned the rights to him. As a result, they were able to sign him to a contract, and then trade him to Memphis so that the money would work right in the trade deal.
Its basically a free paycheck for Aaron, which you always love to see happen to a nice guy like him. Im sure he wont be seeing any playing time however.
