2/9/08: Sixers Vs Clippers
It's something else watching this team play against teams who have poor transition defense. Things can change in the second half but the Sixers have been able to get almost whatever shot they want. Pushing the pace.
This game started off with like three Willie Green throwing down a handful of monster dunks. Then it just snowballed after that.
I wonder what the second half will look like.
Oh, and watching this I'm even happier the Sixers didn't go with Thornton. The guy is a low percentage chucker. He can have mismatches in his favor and he'll settle for a jumper with a defense, and he doesn't give much effort defensively.

Its been a fun stretch to watch, no doubt.
I still have mixed feelings about them winning though, because they really do need a good draft pick.
They have been playing with a new intensity though that seems to stem from the play of the youngsters with somehting to prove. Specifically, Evans, Young, and Carney

Re: 2/9/08: Sixers Vs Clippers
That's why I'm not as bothered by this winning streak as I was last year's. This isn't driven by Joe Smith's 18 foot jumper, young players are actually being developed. It also gives the team a good look at what they have to offer next season (might make them a more attractive destination as well).
With the lineup they're going with I'm really wondering what they're going to do in the offseason. When we were talking about Thad starting we were saying at SF and move Iguodala down, but they've plugged Thad into the PF spot. He's been playing well so far as a starter (averaging just under 12 and 6), but is that his position in the future or will they move him to SF?
I think I'm just happy with this season where ever it goes. I've seen enough good things to know the team is going in the right direction.

The other day (vs. Miami) was the first time I've watched them play since Iverson got traded. What direction do you guys see this team going in? And do you see Iguodala re-signing?

Re: 2/9/08: Sixers Vs Clippers
They're trying to build an unselfish team that pushes the pace. They already have the athletes that make them dangerous in the open court, and they've had many different leading scorers.. they just need to be better shooting the ball to make it work. Also they need to be able to execute in the half court. I feel they'll be a playoff team sooner rather than later.
Iguodala most likely will re-sign. The only chance he doesn't is if someone offers a contract the Sixers are unwilling to match. I have this feeling that Stefanski will make sure things work out.
