Maurice Cheeks on WIP 4/21

I'll provide a brief summary of the conversation.

Apprently Cheeks was ill in Detroit during the game.

He was searching for players to give the team a lift. Jason Smith gave them a boost last night.

Cheeks says the Sixers got a little lucky with the Pistons's missed shots and free throws, Evans' free throws and endgame shots.

The Pistons kept dumping it to Wallace and that's what the Sixers wanted. It got the Pistons' guards out of sync and he knew that Rasheed wasn't going to make all the shots. Samuel Dalembert was playing good defense on Wallace.

Some inexperience of the young players hurt us in the first half. They played through it and improved as the game went on.

Thaddeus Young started to provide an offensive player in the middle. Evans brings energy off the bench.

Sixers need to control the game. Run, run, run. Pressure the ball handlers up the floor, try to force turnovers.

Cheeks is reminding the players that the Pistons are a really experienced team, they can win on the road. Sixers need to be ready, not satisfied with winning one game. Hope emotions are gone with extra day off. Need to play as hard to come out with a win.

Athleticism really played a big part on the team defense on the Pistons. Game plan was followed pretty well.

Cheeks shares his experiences to his players. Glad that the Sixers know how it feels to be in the playoffs. Refers to the situation in '01 when the Sixers won Game 1 and lost the next four.

Will try to get another win and REALLY shock the world.
