Coleman was on the floor at the 76ers practice yesterday. Not scimmaging or in the drills, just shooting and running. But that is not as far away, generally, from playing , as some injuries.
Clancy's injury is upsetting. A rookie needs all the practice he can get, and more. I thought he and Ely were the "sleepers" of the draft, with pro bodies and college experience and each has a mid range jumper that hits. That may not seem like much, but check out others. I keep envisioning he, as a reasonably mobile, powerful 6'7'' forward with Van Horn, a long 6'10" forward as 70/30 interchangeable on matchups on both ends of the floor depending upon opposition personnel.I think he will rot on IR this year, and I feel he is too good for that. He may have fallen in draft because of his injury, I am not sure. But I see a first round talent. I was hoping the 76ers would take him at #16, if Ely was taken earlier. He seemed a gift in round two. Perhaps if I see him against pro's, I'll reconsider. But he is my "gut" sleeper.
I missed on some, most notably Wes Unseld, as we all have. Some "gut" ones that panned out were Calvin Murphy and Mark Price, both second rounders. I knew they could star in the NBA.
