Beez- I did not realize Rentzias was a guaranteed contract. He is going to have to play MUCH better to ever step on the court.D. Brown has played well enough to make the roster, but I have high hopes on Clancy.
So it is a double edged sword on these Euro players. They can't all be instant NBA contributors. 76ers got the dud. The kid they traded on draft night is supposedly showing well. Haven't heard much on the others.
I'm dying to see some 76ers regulars play, even in exhibition. Don't you think the evolution of the Iverson/Van Horn combo is a fascinating story, however it turns out?

I agree I really dont like rentzias, secondly I think Van Horn will have a major season, I expect big things out of him. I think he needs to grow that Goatee back make him look like he has a lil edge with em. Iverson I think will like Van Horn this time around

As of Oct. 23 , the injured reservse is going to be filled with , of all things, 3 injured players-Dalembert, Clancy and Buckner. So no hiding anybody.
The playable list now reads:
Iverson
McKie
Van Horn
Coleman-not ready but has to be on roster(no IR room)
MacCullough
Snow
Williams
Lesser minutes
Salmons
Skinner- the new back-up center for now?
Brown
Rentzias-guaranteed contract
Long
waived:
Polynice
Bryant
Injured Reserve (real)
Dalembert
Clancy
Buckner
It is kind of sticky now with another real injury. If Rentzias has to have a roster spot and can't compete, this is a bigger blunder than anticipated, because you have to waive some people who can play a little. Do people follow this thought process?

Well Larry Brown is at it again cutting Damone Brown. I am really now not a fan of his. IF the sixers had the top draft pick next year he wouldnt even pick Lebron James he would probably pick a player that "PLAYS THE RIGHT WAY"

I don't understand LB. WHY would you cut Damone Brown? He did really good in the preseason, and he can take it to the hoop.

Dalembert's injury doomed D. Brown .The coach must want the comfort of the quantity with the likes of Rentzias, Bryant and Polynice at back-up center.
When Clancy gets his chance, and it may be a year away, you'll see a better forward, with more power and skills.D. Brown kind of needed to be a long snapper or punt returner i.e in possession of some skill as the 12th man that Coach Brown didn't dare cut. I thought he acquited himself very well in pre-season, but injuries to others ruined his chance.
With all the injuries, and Brown's delight in role players on the defensive end, the roster is always skewed in that direction. But with health, they have more offensive firepower, especially with McKie not starting, than in the recent past. Van Horn has a very nice offensive game, rebounds and runs. If he meets Brown's defensive expectations, they are set at forward.
So while you and I might keep a kid as a 12th man, Brown goes for the ancient big men.

That really upsets me that Damone was cut. He showed he could do somethings in the preseason, though being inconnsistent, he still posed as an offensive threat, that can create his own shots, we have about 2 other guys who can do that on this team.
What will happen when Allen Iverson gets hurt for a game in the playoffs? Who is going to take that Jumaine Jones role, as the threat who will take it to the whole and not think the ball is a hot potatoe.
Larry Brown may be burnt out, I look at all he has done for this team, and up to 00, I agreed with it all. But since, his dismantling of a finals team, that still had a year or 2 left, and out of all that dismantling he came up with just about no great prospects for the future, other then John Salmons? John Salmons?, I mean i like the guy and all, but he is not the future. Allen Iverson will last 3 -4 more years at least but his body has gone through to much to take anymore.
Damone Brown could be very much like Ricky Davis, who will show somethings this year. I do hope Damone gets a job , which will be hard so late in the preseason, but I hope he gets a job and can light up Larry Brown just like Jalen did, maybe he can learn that way.
