Interesting Trade Rumor
http://www.basketballboards.net/foru...941&forumid=55
I know that Iverson isn't going to be traded because of O'Brien, but I think this is a really interesting trade idea. The Sixer's would obviously be rebuilding for the future, but they do get a lot of talent in return. Wonder what you guys think about it.

This makes me think a little bit, did O'Brien make that statement to settle down the Philly media, or did he really mean it? Now it's getting a little weird, because if he was simply playing public relations all along, that would explain why the Sixers are the only team in the NBA who has basically no news coming out this offseason.
Of course with this trade, we wouldn't be back to our 2002-03 ways, but I think we could possibly be just as good as this year, possibly better. And for the future years, we'd really benefit from it.
Things are really looking to get interesting now. This is honestly the best trade, I saw involving Iverson in recent months. Jaric is a nice combo guard, Ely would provide us with another shotblocker outside of Dalembert, and the #2 draft pick would make up for our lack of a pick next season. This could result in us being a much younger team, which would help ease the restraints on our improvement.

As much as I love AI, I can't deny that this is a great thread, probably for the best.

One on one, even one on two, when the guy they call the Answer is on a one-way trip to the basket, you better just foul him. People can hate all day about the number of shot attempts. But, damn, give him props for even getting them up. He's small enough to have every shot contested. That 39% shooting sounds terrible to the regular reader, but have you seen these NBA players lately?"

This draft is a lot better than people give it credit for being. I see a lot of players who will make teams very happy in a few years. I understand why draftcity compared it to the 2001 draft, but in my mind this year's talent base is a lot deeper.

There is a lot of talent in this year draft, no doubt. But it won't be guys like Okafor, Howard and Deng.

I sort've agree here, I think Howard will turn out to be a player, but with Okafor and Deng I wouldn't be shocked if they're just cogs on a team much like Shane Battier. I don't know if they'll ever be superstars, and Dwight Howard could fit in the same boat, but I doubt it.
You are right though, in the fact that this draft is weak if you look at it in terms of sure fire players. There's a lot of boom or bust guys this year.

Who do you think the boom guys are?
I like Iggy, Josh, Swift, Wright most. Dwight, yeah, not so boom there. I think his career is closer to Webber/SAR than it is to T.D.

I think the boom guys are: Howard, Iggy, Smith, Gordon, Luke Jackson, and perhaps Biedrins (but I obviously have never seem him play).
Guys who, I think, could go either way: Devin Harris, Al Jefferson, Sebastian Telfair, Dorrell Wright.
Solid (won't hurt you): Okafor, Deng, Nelson, Swift, Araujo.
Busts: Livingston, Podkolzine, Childress, Harrison.

I don't know, I think the top 3 will be decent at the very least. Howard looks like a player to me and I think he can turn out to be a very good player in the future. Okafor can be a more offensively minded Ben Wallace, and I would love him on my team. Deng looks like a very poor man's Grant Hill (amybe not the best of comparisons) and could be a solid player. He might not have the highest of ceilings but is a safe pick. Of course, players like Iggy and Smith have a bunch of potential and I would love to have one of them too.
