Music Talk/What are you listening to?
|
|
Hey, what music do you guys like?
The Beatles and Queen are my favorites. I don't know if I like any modern bands at
the moment.
I'm listening to Closing Time - Semisonic

My favorite bands:
NIN, TOOL, Marilyn Manson (dont believe what you hear), A Perfect Circle, System Of A Down, Rammstein, Deftones, Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, The Dreaming, Meshuggah, VAST, Placebo, Pink Floyd, The Melvins, Team Sleep, Lustmord, Pantera, The Prodigy, Filter, and Massive Attack. Though I like more, just I don't remember off the top of my head, or listen to em that much.
And I am listening to silence right now. Not in the mod to listen to anything right now.

Sean, considering your age, I must say I'm a bit surprised by your choices.
Joe, I'm less surprised by yours. I didn't realize Rammstein were also known in the US.
Me, I like all types of music. I enjoy popular music (regardless of genre) from the past 50-60 years. At any given moment, I could be listening to anything from Korn to Kenny Loggins. However, when I have time for "proper listening" (alone, without distractions, on my main audio system) I tend to prefer jazz, or a bit of classical, or even opera.

Hmmmm..........I'm not much of a Jazz, country or opera guy.
I can listen to a little classical from time to time. But if I had to go with something that has a hint of jazz-ish relation, I'll go with one of my fave, Ray Charles. But he was alot more R&B rather then Jazz.
I'm listening to The Beatles - Let it be

Oh, hell yeah. They got noticed more back when Sehnsucht was released in the us. Du Hast hit the mainstream a little bit. MTV played the video and radio played it as well. It got them at least into the conscience of people, if anything.
But after that, if you didn't like them from that, you wouldn't hear about 'em on TV or radio much. I got more into them months after Reise, Reise came out. I heard Mein Teil from someone and was blown away. I love that album. Mutter is really good too.

Last night, Morcheeba. This morning, Alterbridge, The Cars, En Vogue, some children's nursery rhymes. You never know what you get when the iPod's on shuffle.

Ah, those were the days! Switch On/Switch Off (I think the title was) was also good. In those days, I also used to listen to the Blue Nile, Lotus Eaters, Care, Icicle Works, The Wild Swans, to name a few.

How old are you Aylwin? By the way, is it pronounced Al-win?
I think I'm saying it wrong in my head. Very unique name, atleast for America.

Older than you, that's for sure! Let's just say I was around your age (give or take a couple years) when these songs came out.
It's starting to come back to me now: Gene Loves Jezebel, Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Dream Academy, Modern English, Echo and the Bunnymen, OMD (Orchestral Manuevers in the Dark), Flock of Seagulls, New Order, Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw, Fiction Factory, Propaganda, The Church, Human League, and of course Depeche Mode. To name a few more.

Apparently, Aylwin is a Welsh name. And since I'm not from Wales, I have no idea how it's supposed to be pronounced. "al-win" is what I use so that's fine for me. I don't think that's the correct pronunciation though.
