That's on track to be an awesome defensive team. I'm not sold on Alvin as a starting point guard in this league, though. I remember him mostly as a SG, although he did play some minutes at the point in Milwaukee...but even then he started at SG.

You can't compare them in head to head, but in my opinion, he was. He had a better perimeter game (he was the original perimeter shooting big man who also had a low post game). He could defend just as well as Hakeem... his teammates just sucked. (except for when he was in LA but that was when he was too old to make a huge impact)

He's at point defensively, but the offensive role is a bit different. I'll probably run an offensive system build around Pippens ballhandling, so whoever is playing point won't have to take all the playmaking responsibilites.

The help defense will be strong. I'm not saying steals per game is a measure for great defense (because it isn't), but Robinson as 2.3 is the guy with the lowest average in that lineup. That's nice (as long as the players play solid on ball defense, and they all did).

I have to reach on people with my even numbered round picks because I have to wait 51 picks until I'm up again. Bill Walton, Vince Carter, and Don Buse. You can argue that they were all reaches but they might not have been there 52 spots later so I had to take them.

And about Don Buse, yeah, he was unknown to me until I read about him on another site, but he's one of those players that seem to be perfect for uber talented teams. Great defensive player and unselfish on offense.

Re: Dr. Seuss' Legends GM Draft - SIGNUP/Discussion Thread

Walton wasn't a reach with the 1 year rule . . . arguably one of the top 4 centers of all time clearly behind only Wilt, Russell, and Jabbar and arguably on a par with Shaq and Hakeem. He was that good when he was healthy, he was just never healthy (even that one year he only played 66 games and limped through many of them).

As for Buse being perfect, I do have some questions about players who can't at least average double figures in points in a normally talented league being able to step up to the next level. A statistical draft analysist was surprised to find that points/40 was a much better indicator of professional success than TSB or similar efficiency measures for college prospects . . . the guys who were efficient but didn't score tended to be maximized out at their level and didn't have the raw talent/physicality to take their game to the next level. This would be the next level of competition for players who succeeded at the professional level so it might (or might not) apply here too. Interesting read . . . http://www.hoopsanalyst.com/

Re: Dr. Seuss' Legends GM Draft - SIGNUP/Discussion Thread

Well, I'm counting on voters judging Walton, and my team, in that one season peak light. Some won't be able to though, that's why I could see someone calling him a reach.

And double digit scoring isn't that big of a deal, Wes Unseld had a few prime seasons under 10 points a game. Don Buse's thing seemed to be defense and passing.

Iceman you punk. I was thinking of selecting Mark Eaton this round. Statistically, he's the greatest shot-blocker ever.

The greatest shotblocker ever statistically hasn't been picked yet. Eaton is probably 2nd though.

Is changing picks like that allowed?

I'm not against it by any means, but i'd like to know if i change my mind later on.
