Offensive Game Plan:
Run 'n' Gun
My offensive gam plan is for my team to run run run all over your ***. Magic Johnson will be creating all the scoring for the team by either scoring himself or causing the opposing team to double him so he can find open shooters in Mullin and Schayes. If both shooters are well defended then give the ball to David Thompson to take it to the rack or to Bill Russel who is often forgotten on offense. Bill Russel's main job on offense is to clean up all the garbage. Tom Chambers will be the sixth man that will come off the bench and add some extra energy to the floor and will be well used on offense.
Defensive Game Plan:
Willis and Parish aren't exactly known for their scoring so the main focus will be on Kobe Bryant and Isiah Thomas. We will play some what of a zone but will be making sure that Kobe and Isiah are either double or help is near by to make their life challenging. Also to make sure somebody is always in the area of Glen Rice so he wont be getting any wide open shots. Bill Russel will be down low most of the time with the help of a teammate making sure the big guys arent left alone and making sure we get the boards.
Overall Focus:
The Overall focus is to not let Kobe and Isiah score and keep their defense guessing with scoring from everyone from each and everyone angle by running all over them and keeping the ball moving.

Wow.. It's going to be tough for the Pistons to win as many as two games against the Pacers, just not enough help for Isiah and Kobe.
Putting my first vote on the Pacers.

Hmm. Chambers and Finley are the only reserves in this matchup I like for anything more than spot minutes.
This is probably heretical, but...
Isiah gives up 8 inches and a lot of weight to Magic, but only 3 inches and a few pounds to Skywalker. What if Kobe is on Magic and Isiah on Thompson? Does that even the odds at all?

Of course Kobe is on Magic, that's pretty much a given. This is going to be a lot tougher than most people think. Detroit is weak up front and has holes, but Magic, Thompson and Mullin are not a good mix. All three are weak in man coverage and need the ball in their hands . . . . Magic's usage is just under 30 which is reasonable since you want the ball in his hands as much as possible, but Mullin's is 25 and Thompson's is over 30 for his prime seasons, he was an iso player who needed the ball in his hands and a side cleared out. And Schayes shoots under 40% allowing his defender to double off onto postups. Admittedly Kobe's rate is even worse than Thompson's but Detroit is set up to let Kobe and Isiah hog the ball. Still, Russell covers an awful lot of defensive screwups by the Pacers so I have to give it to them, I just think they are extremely vulnerable to a better opponent.

Neither side will get much in the way of post scoring (except when Magic or Kobe goes down there), so the offensive matchup comes down to how Magic and co. can push the pace, or whether Detroit can be effective slowing them down and playing halfcourt. And I'm not sure I see that happening.

The Pacers will win this series. No way they lose with Magic and Russell in the 1st round. Yeah Isiah is great, and Kobe will score a lot of points because neither Magic or Thompson will do much to stop him. Mullin is better than Glen Rice, and Dolph Schayes is certainly better than Willis. Parish was a great player, but he's still way behind Bill Russell. Neither bench is that good. The Pistons might be a bit better there. They have Cassell and Finley, while Chambers is the only one on the Pacers bench who was a very good player. But it's nowhere near enough to make up the disadvantages they have in the starting lineups.
