If you could be Mike D'Antoni this off-season, you would????
If I could be Mike D’Antoni this off-season, I would…
• Trade the #21 pick, our 2007 1st Round pick and Kurt Thomas to New Orleans for the #15 pick and J.R. Smith.
• Trade J.R. Smith and the #27 pick to Portland for Steve Blake and the #30 pick.
• Draft Saer Sene at the #15th pick.
• Draft a Player to keep overseas at the #30th pick.
• Re-sign Tim Thomas for 4 years/ $14 million Mid-Level Exception.
• Sign Jorge Garbajosa to a 3 years/ $7 million Rookie Contract.
• Fail to pick up the Team Option for Dijon Thompson. And waive Nikoloz Tskitishvili
• Allow Brian Grant and Eddie House to use their Player Option. If Pat Burke uses his Player Option, waive him in Pre-season.
• Extend Bois Diaw for 5 years/ $40 Million and extend Leandro Barbosa for 5 years/ $25 Million.
My 2006-07 Phoenix Suns will look like this…
C- Bois Diaw / Saer Sene / Brain Grant
PF- Amare Stoudamire / Jorge Garbajosa
SF- Shawn Marion / Tim Thomas / James Jones
SG- Raja Bell / Leandro Barbosa / Eddie House
PG- Steve Nash / Steve Blake
That is $58,616,875 in Payroll
Shawn Marion---------- 15,070,000
Amare Stoudamire------ 12,375,000
Steve Nash------------ 10,500,000
Raja Bell---------------- 4,468,966
(Howard Eisley)--------- 3,589,744 (Counts againist the Cap, but not againist the Luxury Tax)
Tim Thomas------------- 3,000,000
James Jones------------- 2,652,000
Jorge Garbajosa---------- 2,000,000
Boris Diaw---------------- 1,870,501
Brian Grant--------------- 1,805,760
Leandro Barbosa---------- 1,679,733
Saer Sene #15------------ 1,262,900
Steve Blake--------------- 1,000,000
Eddie House--------------- 932,015
Now, if you could be Mike D'Antoni this off-season, you would????

I think you'd get Steve Blake without having to give up JR Smith cause that trade would be just dumb but other then that it's a pretty nice plan.

um, you do know if we waive players, we still have to pay them, it doesn't take their contracts off the books or our cap situation.
Why would we trade Kurt Thomas? We got him to put next to Amare. Without him our defense is a lot worse.
I'm pretty sure once we trade for a player, we can't trade them right away. Not sure on that.
Too many moves though.

JR Smith is on the block. Maybe we want to trade for him AND keep him.
There are times when this guy looks like a superstar and god knows the Suns bring out the best in players.
Do we want to risk his potential attitude problems?

That is true. Maybe James Jones and something for him?

Barbosa, Kurt Thomas, Jones for JR Smith, PJ Brown and #15.
I would consider that.

^ lol that quote in your signature is funny. Has he not seen Amare expand his game? He does more than dunk. And comparing Amare to Swift and Wilcox in terms of offense and even just dunking, they're not even in the same league

Extend Diaw, resign Thomas and draft a backup point guard would be my choices.
But we'll have to see what he does.

here's my problem with drafting a back up PG. What if he shows the inability to play meaningful minutes and isn't ready for the playoffs? Becomes a wasted pick for next yr when we could use on a guy who can contribute, That is why I want a vet PG and why we should get a young guy next year.

Thats why I'm talking about getting a solid backup point guard. Yes, he'll be a rookie. But if he can play 10-12 mins and doing more then Eddie House (which should be easy) I think it would be a good idea. How could the Suns get a veteran point guard anyways? Theres not really any decent veteran's out to get for the money the Suns would be willing to offer.

But we don't know who is gonna be solid though. Kyle Lowry or Jordan Farmer who could be there at that range, may not be able to even do more than House. I would kinda like Lowry cuz he reminds me of Iverson in a way, getting to hoop, and showing his heart and relentless will. He just can't shoot that well which I think you'd want. But he does play some good defense though. Almost smothering though. but Nova last yr, that was their system and he did it well.
Steve Blake is getting 1 million..I don't know others off top of my head.

Re: If you could be Mike D'Antoni this off-season, you would????
We need a backup point. We either take Jarret Jack or Steve Blake fom portland or we draft Sergio Rodriguez my preference but we would prob need to package the picks which is ideal coz we dont need both for cap reasons. Lowry would also be good, Farmer doesnt impress me. I don't think Lowry's shooting would bother us to much, as both Amare and Diaw couldn't shoot when they got here, i think we could develop his shot.
