PHOENIX -- Guard Eddie House opted out of the remaining year of his contract Friday night in order to test the free agent market.
House's agent, Mark Bartelstein, said though that his client was still interested in staying with Phoenix.
"We're going to see what's out there," Bartelstein told the Associated Press, "but we're going to stay in close contact with the Suns and Mike D'Antoni."
House, who played in college at Arizona State, would have made $932,000 next season with the Suns. His decision could add a bit more payroll space in the Suns' attempt to re-sign Tim Thomas.
House's seven-year NBA career found new life as a designated shooter off the bench for the fast-paced Suns. He appeared in a career-best 81 games, averaging 9.8 points.
But the 6-foot-1 sharpshooter struggled in the playoffs and his playing time diminished. He averaged 3.1 points per game in the postseason, making 3-of-14 3-pointers.
House opted out of the deal shortly after the 12 a.m. ET start of the league's free agent period.
