Speedy Claxton signs with Atlanta
This bodes well for the Suns for the most part, because it definitely helps their chances of getting the lottery pick next year. The only risk is that the Suns might end up with the 10th pick or something, but I am just glad that we will be getting it next year.

We can move up by packaging the 2 or 3 picks if we wanted to. I can't see us keeping that many though. I want it high enough so we can grab someone with a chance to be special

You saw how easy it was to move into the mid teens this year, right? Next year will have some sure-fire superstars who will be at the top, so moving into the top 5 is going to be just as hard as it was this year. We even offered teams three firsts just to move up, but no dice.

Re: Speedy Claxton signs with Atlanta
Its good for Atlanta and us. They needed a PG, we needed them not to get a all star PG. As for trading down it depends on how the draft pans out and where Atlanta lies. If Atlanta recieved around the 5th or 6th pick we have a good chance. There will be teams willing to swap their 3rd maybe second doubtful for 5th, clevelands pick (around 24-25) and our pick. We also have 2 second rounders. Another factor is team needs if a team needs a player that will still be around at 5 then we will have a good chance.

I agree with the possibility to move up if we are in the 5-7 range. But if we fall to 9 or 10, it's going to be a lot harder.

True, but next yr may be the yr we deal Marion, so it may be easier along with picks? Not that I want to deal him or anything. Everyone knows I don't. I mean, I'd rather deal with it now as if I know he won't be here then be pissed or upset next yr when it does happen. If that makes any sense haha.
Who knows, maybe something weird happens and Hawks are picking top 3? The next yr, its definitely ours haha

OMG u want trad matrxi?
Hehe, whether or not Marion gets traded depends in my opinion on a few things. First, how Marion plays in the playoffs. Second, how Kurt Thomas plays this coming year, including the playoffs. Third, whether or not Barbosa continues to grow and is worth resigning for this team. If we're only looking at signing Diaw, there's no reason we can't part with Thomas, Barbosa, James Jones, Piatkowski, whoever to be able to make that happen. If the luxury tax threshhold goes up to $65 mil, the Suns are already $9 mil below it. If they part with Kurt Thomas, they will be only $48. Many many options if they aren't ready to part with Shawn.

LOL
Yeah that's all definitely true. A lot of factoring that could go into it which depends on what happens. And yeah, we talked about the cap being at 56 and being below it more than we thought. There is a good chance at not signing Barbosa and extending Diaw to where it's not killing us. Trading Kurt Thomas could help a lot. Someone would want an expiring deal.
