Suns window....
Is this the last yr? I've seen comments from D'Antoni multiple times saying they were going to keep it together and try one more yr. One more yr? It's not like Nash will be traded. Marion has an opt out clause, but will he really opt out of 17M? Unless he gets an extension. A cheaper one at that hopefully..
Suns cap next yr is 71M.
What do you guys think?

Re: Suns window....
Let's pretend that the Suns will be great like this forever.... I don't want to talk about this anymore. That's all anyone says when they talk about the Suns is when they're gonna be blown up.... You don't blow up a contender unless it's achieving less every year with the same core. Since the core has changed almost every year in the Nash era, I don't think that there is any reason to blow up the team.

You can probably bet on Amare, Nash and Barbosa sticking around for the foreseeable future.

Come on now... seriously. All that any of the sports people write about is when the team will be blown up! What will the Suns get for Marion? Will Nash be traded before he declines too badly? Trade Amare? The Suns need to start over.... but how?

Re: Suns window....
It doesnt help that diaw has a massive contract and i guess in retrospect we should have seen that such high dollars for a reserve would be limiting on our cap and therefore trade options.
Nonetheless with Diaw, barbosa, bell, marion, amare and nash we have almost all the talent we need to challenge for a western conference title. Almost because we dont have another big who can dominate on defense. Hence i would love to see what a marcus camby type player would do for this team, but that would mean trading away significant pieces. Straight up i know it wont work, but diaw for camby would be interesting.
It doesnt help nash is getting older. He hasnt shown it on the stats, hell no, hes done exceedingly well. And i hope he will continue such high levels, kidd is also playing at a high level, even tho he shoots poorly he too is a hardy vet pg who knows what he is doing.
Could nash average 13 or more assists per game this season? I see his scoring dropping finally after being at career highs past 2 seasons, but we will see. We must be hungrier this season, Our foes in dallas, spurs have done all they can to agitate us and they have gone further than us. We must do the little things better and reach another level higher yet. Theres only so much u can take losing to the same opponents over the past 3 years. Be hungrier no doubt and shut down the spurs, blow away the mavs and who ever else we struggle against.
Because this team CAN do it. I think if we dont reach the 3rd round (semi finals? lol) u know the last 2 west teams. If we dont reach that then i see a more considerable change coming. Possibly experiment with a different coach? Who knows, i like d'antoni, but you have to do what is best for the team. And this team has been constant for a while now with the same coach, and we have to reach the endpoint.
Thats my long post done with, hope you guys found it a decent read. prolly pointed out the obvious hehe.

Re: Suns window....
Well, the problem is that we haven't had the same team for two years in a row. The only constants have been Nash, Marion, Barbosa, and D'Antoni. JJ and QRich were on the first team, then Diaw, KT and Bell were starters, and after that Amare came back and KT took a seat. Now Amare is looking almost like the old Amare. He still doesn't have a couple of inches on his vertical, but they will be there by the start of the season. Think about it. When Amare came back last season, he had only played with Nash, Marion, and Barbosa. The rest of the team was new to him.
This is totally our year.

Re: Suns window....
maybe as soon as everyone stops picking the Suns to be one of the favorites out west, they'll suprise everyone and make it the finals.
sad to say,
here's to the countdown to the window closing..

Im sure GP is glad to have all the stats and be considered a top 10 all time guard, but what does that mean to him without a ring?
here's an example:
You have a gorgeous girl that gives you all the oral sex and foreplay you want, but no actual sexual intercourse. Shoot, of course you get the glamour of being with a top notch girl, but you don't quite feel complete and satisfied. There's no shame "sealing the deal" with another girl who isn't as pretty, but heck.. at least you got to tap that booty.

Re: Suns window....
2008 is T-macs year. Steve Francis will break out cause hes back home and with t-mac and yao hes gonna get his chances. And then you got mike james who can shoot and the potential on scola is through the roof. And yao is improving every year so 08 might be his mvp year.

Re: Suns window....
Rockets have to get out of the first rd and have a meaningful playoff run before taking the next step. Most teams who get over the hump to do so.

Re: Suns window....
Its still Spurs then Dallas and Suns as top 3. The rest is anyones guess, Though i still wonder what on earth are we going to do to fill the big man void? Marion at PF again is not fair on the guy. Diaw might be too soft for PF/C, but you could always give it a try - Him and Amare at 35 mins a game- you know that might be a better improved combination from last years diaw. Would have been nice if one of our draft picks was a defensive PF/C.
Do you guys see strawberry and tucker being used much? Behind nash, barbosa and bell?

Well, I don't see the STARTING lineup changing since they're all back this season. Hopefully Strawberry is ready to give some solid energy minutes. We are in a bit of a bind because now Marion and Stoudemire are going to HAVE to play 35-40mpg due to out lack of backups(Burke, Thomas, and Jones). If we luck out and get PJ Brown for two seasons, then we'll be golden with Hill, Barbosa, and Brown as backups. I worry about Hill, but possibly he'll thrive on this team because of the lack of physicality in team play as well as a light practice regimine.
