Is this the Crucible for D'Antoni?
Has the pressure to win now increased? If the Suns fail to make it to the Finals this year, is D'Antoni's head on the chopping block? Do you think that with all of the results that this team has delivered, D'Antoni will be fired for losing yet again to the dynasty Spurs? (I don't count the Mavs because if we didn't have Bell injured we would have beaten them without Amare and I hate them SOOO much! I hate the Spurs only because they keep beating us).
However, the big question on my mind is this: Now that assistant coach Marc Iavaroni has joined the grizzlies as head coach, who could replace D'Antoni as coach?

It wouldn't surprise me, if Suns can't beat Spurs when they are healthy. Then it might be time to find a new coach, especially when everything is so uncertain with Shawn Marion.
Coach K would make sense as a head coach canidate. I'm sure Amare has taken a liking to him, and he has strong ties with Jerry. He would be a great replacement if need be.

Sarver may stingy or cheap in a way. It could be a hell of a lot worse. Suns payroll is already 69M. But no one thinks about that.
I don't think Shawn Marion is going anywhere, unless it's via trade, which couldn't happen til he picks up his option. He's not gonna walk out on 17 M unless the Suns sign him to an extension. He'd opt out and sign it.
Coach K wouldn't leave Duke for Kobe Bryant and Lakers. He won't do it for the Suns. I think it would take a lot for D'Antoni to be fired. Few losing seasons or something like that. Organization will be loyal to him.

Will coach K walk away from a gig in which he will never be fired for a job which he will be fired from within 3 years?

Yes this is crucial season for suns and dantoni to win the western conference. If its our defense and giving up too many points thats the concern again, then a defensive minded coach one would think to be brought in.

Meh... I doubt it. I mean of course the expectations are "championship or bust," but his job ain't on the line, that's for sure. The Suns have just run into some rotten luck the past 2 years at crucial junctures >_>
