Stoudemire's microfracture was comparatively very small, in comparison to people like, say, Chris Webber, Jason Kidd, Matt Harpring, and even Zach Randolph. (Who recovered fairly well.)
Anyone who has watched him consistently for a long time can tell that he's not quite as athletic as before, but when he was off he really did do a lot of work on the other aspects of his game, which has helped him come back as effectively as he has. I imagine Oden will do something similar.
As with a lot of leg injuries, it's possible that Oden will end up having to have arthroscopic surgery on his other knee due to overly favoring it during and after the recovery period. Luckily, arthroscopic surgery is relatively minor and heals back perfectly fine.
As I understand it, the damage in Oden's knee is even smaller than Amare's, as well as Oden being a few years younger at the time of it happening.
