Trade proposal
I assume you guys will respond to this trade negatively, but the point of a forum is to discuss things that we have no control over right? I read an article a short while back that stated Kerr at one point dangled Amare for Kobe in a trade. I do not remember the source, nor do I remember if the source is reliable so take that with an absolute grain of salt. I also know that a lot of you do not care for Kobe too much. Having said that, here is the proposal. Feel free to adjust the trade or say it sucks, my feelings won't be hurt.
Kobe Bryant, Chris Mihm, and Jordan Farmar for Amare Stoudemire, Raja Bell, and Marcus Banks.
C - Bynum, Kwame
PF - Amare, Turiaf, Radmanovich, Cook
SF - Odom, Walton
SG - Bell, Evans, Karl
PG - Fisher, Crittenton, Vujacic
C - Mihm, Diaw
PF - Marion, Marks
SF - Kobe, Hill
SG - Barbosa, Tucker
PG - Nash, Farmar

Re: Trade proposal
Two main problems with that: Both Amare Stoudemire and Raja Bell are basically untouchable. D'Antoni won't let anyone get rid of Raja and there's not really much way that the Suns would be willing to give up Amare, especially without getting another high end running big in return.
Not that I'd have a problem nabbing Kobe... it's just that... the deal would ultimately be centered around Shawn Marion.

Re: Trade proposal
The only deal I can see, is Marion and Diaw for Kobe. Something along those lines.
Kobe coming to the Suns is as likely as not likely.

Re: Trade proposal
Lakers and Suns will never trade. Thats like.... Portland and Seattle trading! They just don't do it! Division rivals are a hate hate relationship! I don't like the Lakers, I hate their colors, their arena, and even their players. While Kobe is a great talent, he's not worth a 24 year old big man who is Top 5 in the league at his postions. (3rd best PF and 1st or 2nd best C)

Re: Trade proposal
Fair enough. I just don't see a Kobe for Marion and Diaw trade considering a Marion for Odom trade was nearly finalized. As you mentioned, if there is a trade within the division, it had better be very beneficial for both sides. I understand that the Lakers will not get fair value for Kobe, I'm trying to gauge what decent bigs can be had in a trade. We like our young guards, so the Bulls trade is not ideal(not speaking for management of course). It would be nice to find a young big and pair him up with Bynum if rebuilding is truly the route Buss and company decide to go.

Re: Trade proposal
Beneficial to both sides means nothing when you're dumb enough to trade the best NBA player within your division. Remember that they sent Shaq to an Eastern Conference team, and that team won a championship. The Lakers shouldn't even be dumb enough to trade him within the Western Conference. You just don't want that kind of player in your conference if you can help it (you play them more, and they are a roadblock in the playoffs). Within division.... think about that (you play them alot, they are roadblock from winning the division and seeding in the playoffs, as well as a roadblock in the playoffs.
So If a Kobe deal is to happen, it will be to the East. But then again, it is Jerry Buss...
