Post trade plans, for suns
As we all know there was a big trade that occured in Phoenix. Now the reason for this trade, or one of the big reasons was infact to create cap space, and compromise the present for the future.
Jerry Colangelo says

$35 or so million (in guaranteed salary for ’04-05). We estimate that the cap will be about $45 million next year. So, when you look at the math, we’ve got about $10 million of flexibility
|
Now after the first round pick they will have from the knicks next year, they would be left with around 5-7 milliion. Which they seem to think is enough to land a marquee free agent. Im not sure, it would really depend on how we finish the season.
Mcdyess will probably be released or be sign and trade bait, im not really sure what they will do with him. I guess it depends on wether he plays well. One thing is for sure, Ward will be released on the 10th, and look out Rashidi your man Howard Eisley lands a big role for the suns according to D'Antoni

Howard Eisley is going to be our starting point guard. We want to play Leandro (Barbosa) a lot and work with him, but Howard is going to have a big role with us. We like him and I love him. Hopefully he can get back to how he was playing in Utah. He’s going to be with us for a while and we’re looking forward to that.
|
But dont get too excited, Barbosa had a great game with 27 points and should steal that starting spot soon.
We kind need a back up shooting guard or small forward. But i think we should draft a big center in next years draft. Back up swing men arent hard to find. The magic just picked up Lee Nailon, im sure we can get someone like that once our roster is finalised next year.
So how do u guys think this team will pan out next year, (without big free agents) or even right now. Where do we play McDyess (off the bench?) And lampe?
And that jo johnson, man i dont like his game. We've been losing ever since he has been in the starting line up. I would love to sign and trade McDyess for a decent shooting guard. Im sure larry hughes will be available for McDyess next year, as Kwame will be well....... all but bust.

Wow, it looks like they're going to keep Eisley. He is a decent PG, but he is overpaid.

You don't like JJ but you want to sign and trade McDouche for Hughes? Hughes is like an extreme Joe Johnson.. except shorter, older, paid about three times as much, with less potential..
JJ may or may not be the answer long term for us, but I would take him over Hughes. When he takes it to the hole sometimes like he did against Chicago last night, he is such a better player. It's hard to believe he'd only be a senior in college right now, but he's only 22.. with his natural ability and intangibles I have a feeling all it's going to take for Joe is a little more time.. I would hate to let him go then have him blow up somewhere else just because we weren't patient with him..
I'm glad they are giving him all the minutes and not telling him to not shoot the ball despite his poor shooting percentage (he's hanging around 42-43% since D'Antoni came in though, respectable for a two guard these days).. kind of letting him know that they want him to be the man and aren't going to yank him for making mistakes like they have in the past.

Kenneth nailed it with one line. He is gone after this season, if we dont get some sort of hint that a free agent will sign with us, we might have to sign and trade Dyess.
Why do i want huges? Because the guy can flat out play defence. Something we have lacked at the 2 guard spot for a long time. I know Marion is a great defender but its always good to have a versitile defender like hughes, he can defend point guards and 2 guards with ease.
Plus if our pg's flop in some games he can take over at times and run point. Pretty good passer too, shooting efficiently too. Should i go on? I think hes a great fit for us.

No way they want Hughes. He is very overpaid and will probably be a project the rest of his career.

Things look gray as it stands now. The Colangelos are gambling on the potentials. I'll reserve my judgements because I think there will be at least one more cap-clearing trade going down before the February deadline.

why would we trade Dice he's 13 mil off the books at the end of the year...and hughes is not a great defender either. he's pretty good but not great...
Eisley has always done better coming off the bench in his career. i want barbosa to start...IMO Jacobson deserves more time. True he doesn't do much on defense, but on offense he's a shooter. that's what we need.
