Hey this shit is perfectly logical. You don't have to accept a reality that might get your ass voted out of office. You can just create your own reality that saves your sorry ass from getting voted out of office.

It amazes me that we elected him as our governor in the first place.

Walker to Deer Hunters: Pay Up or Get Lost

Quote:
Deer hunting may soon join open government and good schools on the pile of Wisconsin traditions trashed by Scott Walker.

Each November, hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites take to the woods to hunt, thinning our large herd of white tailed deer. A love of the hunt crosses all social and economic boundaries. Indeed, in the politically polarized environment of present day Wisconsin, deer hunting is one of the few activities that stirs passions strong enough to make many of us set aside our differences and share a few days with our fellow citizens, without regard to their political opinions.

If Walker gets his way, all of this will change.

As reported in Lodi Valley News, Walker has hired Texan Dr. James Kroll to serve as Wisconsin’s “deer czar,” a position that gives Kroll considerable power over Wisconsin’s deer management policy. Kroll is an outspoken proponent of game farms, and an opponent of public lands and public game management, which he is on record as describing as “the last bastion of communism.”

The public lands Kroll despises include the state parks, state and national forests, and other publicly held property that hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites—particularly in the northern part of the state—rely on for deer hunting. Hunters on public land may be surprised to discover that Walker regards their annual trek into a state forest as a radical left wing activity akin to marching in a May Day parade in Red Square. But so it is.

If Kroll gets his way, public land hunters will get the shaft. The deer herd no longer would be managed as a public resource, but as the private property of wealthy landowners. Wisconsin will become like Europe, where hunting is the privilege of the wealthy.

Kroll’s view fit in nicely with those of DNR secretary Cathy Stepp, a Walker appointee who already has suggested that public lands be sold.

Going after deer hunting? He must not want to win anymore.

Is that true or something that his enemies invented? It just sounds way too stupid to be true.

re: Wisconsin Collective Bargaining Law Struck Down By County Judge

The hiring of Kroll is very real as are his warped views. I'm fortunate enough to have family friends that own their land to hunt on, but it would be a real shame for public land not to be available to others. Lets be honest, not everyone is well off enough to own land and a good chunk of land up here will fetch a pretty penny on the market. 25% of our hunters (numbering over 600,000) hunt on public land. While I assume not all 25% of these hunters would be out in the cold if these changes happened, but I feel like we could see a serious dent in our economy as of result.

He might as well disband the Packers while he's at it. Can't think of a bigger loser in this state.

Packers being privately owned would be the next step for him.

Voter-suppressing robo-calls reported in Wisconsin recall

Quote:
As Wisconsin residents decide today whether Gov. Scott Walker keeps his job, reports have surfaced of automated calls instructing voters who signed the recall petition that they don’t need to cast a vote to oust the controversial governor.

Numerous voters said they received a “robo-call” telling them “if you signed the recall petition, your job is done and you don’t need to vote on Tuesday.” Challenger Tom Barrett’s campaign has been swift to respond to the claims of misleading information being disseminated by an unidentified group. But, the Barrett campaign had yet to produce a recording of one of the alleged robo-calls.

Mary Urbina-McCarthy, finance director of Barrett’s campaign, sent out a fundraising email Monday after learning of the calls.

“Reports coming into our call center have confirmed that Walker’s allies just launched a massive wave of voter suppression calls to recall petition signers,” she said.

Walker’s campaign released a statement denying that the campaign was connected to the calls. "Any accusation that our campaign is making those calls is categorically false and unfounded. Once again Mayor Barrett and his campaign are trying to falsely attack Governor Walker with absolutely no evidence. This is a desperate move by Mayor Barrett to avoid addressing his lack of a plan to create jobs in Wisconsin," the statement said.

Barrett, the mayor of Milwaukee, is responding with a call of his own encouraging supporters to vote, regardless of what they have heard.

“I recorded a robo-call telling people, yes, you do have to do that, and we’ll be sending that to people who signed the recall petition so they know they do have to vote,” he said at a campaign event Monday in Milwaukee.

Reid Magney, a spokesman for the Government Accountability Board, said that the board has received complaints about the calls and is urging voters to ignore them.

This happens every election in Wisconsin. But "voter fraud" is the reason to disenfranchise thousands of people.

Re: Wisconsin Collective Bargaining Law Struck Down By County Judge

Quote:
MADISON, Wis. — A Wisconsin judge on Friday struck down nearly all of the state law championed by Gov. Scott Walker that effectively ended collective bargaining rights for most public workers.

Walker's administration immediately vowed to appeal, while unions, which have vigorously fought the law, declared victory. But what the ruling meant for existing public contracts was murky: Unions claimed the ruling meant they could negotiate again, but Walker could seek to keep the law in effect while the legal drama plays out.

The law, a crowning achievement for Walker that made him a national conservative star, took away nearly all collective bargaining rights from most workers and has been in effect for more than a year.

Dane County Circuit Judge Juan Colas ruled that the law violates both the state and U.S. Constitution and is null and void.

In his 27-page ruling, the judge said sections of the law "single out and encumber the rights of those employees who choose union membership and representation solely because of that association and therefore infringe upon the rights of free speech and association guaranteed by both the Wisconsin and United States Constitutions."

Colas also said the law violates the equal protection clause by creating separate classes of workers who are treated differently and unequally.

The ruling applies to all local public workers affected by the law, including teachers and city and county government employees, but not those who work for the state. They were not a party to the lawsuit, which was brought by a Madison teachers union and a Milwaukee public workers union.

Walker issued a statement accusing the judge of being a "liberal activist" who "wants to go backwards and take away the lawmaking responsibilities of the legislature and the governor. We are confident that the state will ultimately prevail in the appeals process."

Well, our Supreme Court is about 100 time hackier and partisan than SCOTUS, so they will find for Walker.

That First Amendment is such a pain in the ass when attempting to undercut worker's political power. Just because a concerted effort decimated the private sector unions, even in some instances nuking the company and hoping for a Federal bailout.

There's the decision for those inclined to read that sort of thing. I am not getting my hopes up given the make-up of our Supreme Court in Wisconsin (filled with right-wing partisan hacks), but this still brightened up my weekend a little bit.
